Don't get me wrong, the food is wonderful but the service this day was terrible. The website says call ahead so I do. I'm asked my name and phone number. I spend the first 2 minutes on the phone spelling and re-spelling my name. I'm told at the end of the call my food will be there in 15 minutes. I said nothing about delivery nor was I asked for my address. I say No, I will pick the food up. Still told 15 minutes.
I go to pick up my food after waiting 15 minutes. I wait in line and say I called in an order. I'm asked for my phone number, my order ticket is found in the kitchen and they confirm my order. NOPE, not what I ordered. I watch them cross out my order and write in the correct order. I'm asked to pay and given the tear off number for my order. Now I'm sent to the back of the hot, people-filled store to wait.
I called in my order, but the order they wrote down wasn't even cooked, ready and waiting. I watched several people come and go who came in after me. They also called in an order and were given a ticket stub and asked to wait. I thought the purpose of calling ahead was so that your food would be ready when you go to pick it up, not that they start cooking it after you wait 15 minutes before walking into the store!!
To further complicate my corrected order, my ticket was put on the paid spindle and not back into the kitchen. I actually waited 47 minutes from the time I ordered on the phone to when I finally walked out...
Read moreI just read the raving review for "Crack Chicken" and why am I NOT shocked. FIRST allow me to say that this place offers wonderful customer service, the food is pretty good by itself but nothing to "rave" about. Second, I've heard about this place and decided to give it a try. I was at once appalled by the reference to crack (drugs) on the South side of Lansing whose largest population are (mostly) low income individuals, such as blacks, Mexicans and many whites and where is a huge drug problem. How insulting! Is this supposed to be cute?? Anyway, I ordered a chicken dinner and it was LOADED with seasonings that are more than likely going to sky rocket anyone's blood pressure due to the sheer amount of sodium they DUMP, not shake DUMP on the food! While the seasoning has a unique flavor, it's high is sodium and it's way too much! Everything, except coleslaw has this stuff on it!!! Why? I found the food to be ordinary at best WITHOUT the seasoning, with it I personally find it over done, my entire family had to throw away about $60 worth of food due to the seasoning. WARNING!!! If you have high blood pressure, or don't want high-blood pressure, I'd eat somewhere else or see if they can leave the seasonings...
Read moreI had avoided this place for years due to a bad experience long ago(before they changed their name to crack chicken). A lot of people had been telling me it's so wonderful, and I should give them another chance. I finally did. I wanted to try a little of everything to gauge it all. So the good: The coleslaw, very good. The crab cakes (which I think are pre-made and they just cook) also very good. The fries were fries, neither good nor bad. The bad: Everything else. I ordered chicken strips, chicken wings, and fried perch. The chicken strips were so overcooked they were impossible to chew. The Chicken wings were the same way - super chewy and also greasy. The perch was the most disappointing. The batter was crispy, but the fish itself tasted of absolutely nothing. As if it had been frozen and then thawed by tossing it into a bucket of water where it sat until they fried it. It was overcooked and rubbery and just lacked any flavor. The only flavor was in the batter. I won't be going back ever again. Do yourself a favor if you want decent fish fry, go to...
