So glad we finally tried Maria's (Old Town) The food is SO GOOD (I am a chef btw I need FLAVOR!!) Good as in I think most food in Lansing is not even worth leaving my house for. First off they didn't bring our food out immediately because they were.....COOKING IT! IT WAS HOT AND FRESH Had the Birria tacos and OH MY just hot shells and so WELL seasoned even had pickled onions inside (Like perfect mix of authentic+a little fancy) The guacamole? I had it in Puerto Vallerta and thats how I judge the perfect amount of cilantro+lime+salt It tasted PERFECT My husband had the Chimichanga it was crisp and he loved the cheese inside They didn't pour sauce over the top either (doesnt make sense on a fried food meant to be CRISPY!!) ordered chicken flautas again just perfect seasoned and hot+crispy Beans were good not too salty Rice tasted fresh Service was great--Kevin waited on us--Super friendly and helpful I can't wait to go back and try more Please give them a try I can't see how you'd be disappointed (Oh didn't charge us for chips or the refill either) Los Tres charges $2.50 now...
Read moreFirst time ordering and it will be my last. After $130 dollars in food for my family dinner, the food was beyond subpar, total fail. The barria tacos, dry brisket meat folded in an over cooked corn tortilla, with very little meat. Moving on to the beans and rice. The beans were a runny mess, the taste/flavor was disgusting 🤢. It's like they watered down the beans to streach it to fit our order, pathetic. Just say "we're almost out" or just say you don't have it. Sacrificing quality for quantity. The rice was also overcooked and unappetizing. The torta was decent, nothing special but edible. We also ordered dessert, flan and tres leche cake. The flan was burned, how do you do this, seriously? I can't see what people like about this place, the taco truck was probably good, but this was a complete miss. Especially for the price and quality of the food, I'd rather eat Supermercado La Estrellita or El Chaparrito, even taco bell at this point. This is not authentic Mexican food. Find another place to eat if you value your...
Read moreWe had our wedding catered by Maria’s and I have very mixed feelings about how it went. Food was amazing and there is no arguing that, however I think they did a very poor job of planning and making sure that there was enough food. We provided an accurate number of guests and they told us we would have “plenty of food” and “more than likely will need to have a place for left overs”. I had two small tacos and planned on making a second trip to grab more food after our guests had eaten. When I walked back up to grab more, there was absolutely no food left and I was extremely disappointed.
I’m not recommending avoiding their business completely, but if you choose to cater through Maria’s, I would strongly recommend telling them you have 20% more people coming than you actually do. It really sucks to be hungry and out of food on a day as exhausting as your wedding day. Although the food I ate tasted great, I will unfortunately not be a returning customer due to...
