I've been going to Ozone's for trivia weekly for a few months now. Honestly I would have given them 5 stars up until this week. I know the new system is something that the brewery is still adapting to, but it definitely doesn't feel like it's meeting the message we're being given that it's to 'better serve us.'
The first week was a little chaotic with it as was to be expected, but we were willing to work with it. A member of our party was unable to order via the QR code and they let them order at the bar. This week however when they went up to order the staff at the bar got quite snippy and told them no. They did let them order one beer, but then closed out their tab refusing to provide another. It was inconvenient, but someone else at the table just had to order for them.
Overall I feel like it can't be easier for the food truck since your eliminating the flow of traffic that allowed orders to come in one at a time and essentially opening the opportunity for the entire restaurant to submit orders at the same time. Also it just feels odd having wait staff who only bring drinks, but not offering to clear tables, get more drinks or get water. That is all still a self service.
At this point it seems silly to even have the bar staffed with more than one person even on a busy night if they're just pouring beers.
We've decided we'll be taking a break from our weekly visits for a while, and maybe give them a few months to work out the kinks in the new system before...
Read moreFirst things first, Ozone is making by far the best beer in Lansing. Both in terms of quality and breadth of offerings. Very, very good.
Now, the problem is trying to get them to sell you one. I sat for at least ten minutes before anyone came by. Both the other people at my party gave up and just went to the bar to serve themselves - which in itself was almost impossible. There was about a five minute period wherein we all had full beers and three staff came to check on us. Not so much when it was time for a refill.
The whole place is so loud (open ceilings with no baffling) that you can't have a conversation.
On top of that it took at least ten minutes for them to cash me out, which they never could find my tab. To their credit, they did comp it because they couldn't find it - we'll see if they don't just run the card at close tonight.
I get that it's the opening day but they had several soft openings to work out the kinks. I've run bars before and if anything you over staff, not under staff.
I want to like this place because we're due for a great brewery in Lansing. Maybe it'll be better when other places start putting...
Read moreFirst time there but now one of my go to places when we're in town.
Last weekend my family were in town for ScrapFest art festival and we decided to stop in for O'zones for dinner. It's a cross between self service and full service and although it took us a minute to figure out their system, we got it pretty quick and had a fantastic time there. The beer selection was great, having a good variety. I tried all their IPA's and a few others. I also tried their hop water that was very refreshing, especially after a long day in the sun.
The food is located in a food truck outside and I cant believe the quality that came from it. We didn't have a single order or item missed or wrong, the quality was great and they had a very decent variety of options on the menu.
They had indoor and outside seating, and plenty of room for both. I liked having that option to choose.
Last week we were a first time customer and now we were a life long customer. We'll see you all next year for Scrapfest 16 and my mouth is already watering for one of...
