I'm taking a tour of some of the old family stops for traditional Hispanic food. Now I don't speak a lick of Spanish.. (Will be corrected soon) but my family does. So we get to ordering.. well I need to back up a bit... the smell from just opening the door.. ahhhhhh.. like my Grandma's kitchen. I'm looking a pics and he is ordering away as I point. The chips and salsa were perfect and when the food came.. humm.. got say I was back in that kitchen many years ago! So good! Service was awesome and the place, though what appeared to look like a 'hole in the wall', was clean and friendly. I had so much food in the order for the price.. thought I was robbing the place. Had to get a box to go for what I just couldn't down... and I tired! (The leftovers made a heck of meal the next day!) I gonna be hitting this place again and it will always be regular stop for me when I'm in town.. it's...
Read moreService was awful, I ordered the carne asada plate thinking it would be served like they used to . Once the plate arrived I realized it was a scam . Extremely small portions of brisket and fajita . It was ridiculous. I settled to eat my food because I had been waiting for a long time by then . I spoke to the manager thinking they can give me at least a discount for the bad service but no , manager quickly gave me an attitude. Disregarded the fact that I have been a long time customer and just told me that it was the usual portion. Smh , he said he would give me a discount but then proceeded to charge me for the chips and salsa which they never do . They lost me as a loyal customer that's for sure . In my opinion this restaurant together with all its locations is a dying restaurants and they are scamming their customers before they...
Read moreWent to dinner here twice in a row. Had the tampiquena and everything was either great or fantastic. Great: fajita was more like fajita steak well done, and the rice was flavorful and not too hot. Fantastic: the crispy beef taco was scrumptious and the first thing I devoured, enchiladas were well stuffed and extremely well topped with more cheese and sauce, and the Avocado salad very very tasty. I chose a limomada to drink and it wasn't too tart or overly sweet, it was perfect to chug until the good arrived.
The service was great, our server was very friend and was enthusiastic about their recommendations when we had questions about the menu. The place reminds me of eat in restaurants in the 80s and 90s back in the rgv. So it feels homey and the food is really...
