Order: Chicken Tender Combo, and 15 Piece Family Combo Drive-Thru
The chicken was good as always. I love Popeyes, but I'm bringing it down to 3/5 stars because it's quality of customer service has really disappointed as of late. Now, to be fair, I've had issues in particular at this location, so Popeyes in general is alright.
Yesterday, about 45 minutes before closing, my wife and I rolled up to the drive-through, and as usual here in Laredo, the staff had already started prepping for close. No one wants to be stuck at work any later than they have to be. I get it because I used to have to work a similar job, and so this is not even part of the specific complaint, but our man on the speaker was outright inconsiderate.
We asked for some tenders, and he's like "hold on, I might not have them." After a pause, he comes back on the speaker "okay, it's going to take about 5 minutes," and we say "that's fine" then he starts adding up the order, but we interrupt him to say we also want the 15-piece. He says, "hold on" and again after a pause, he comes back on the speaker "I only have those in mild." We say "that's fine" to this as well, but we'd like some buffalo sauce and blackened ranch. He nods a bit then says "okay."
Buddy, charges our card, and asks us to drive up to the waiting lane. After 10 minutes our order comes out, and he takes off back inside without another word. We look inside the bag, and we don't have the buffalo sauce (or any sauce other than those little packets they throw in there.) We didn't have utensils for the mash potatoes or the rice, and we didn't have napkins.
My wife, gets out of the car and knocks on the door because the dine-in area is closed due to covid. I told her to just get back in the car and go back around to the drive-thru. There was one customer ahead of us, but there were no other customers after us, so we were able to get back to the window and ask again for the buffalo sauce.
Us: "Sorry, we asked for buffalo sauce."
Employee: "I have to charge you."
Us: "Yeah, but we asked for it before you charged us."
Employee: "Oh I just remembered, we don't have buffalo right now. We ran out."
Us: "Can you give us ranch or something?"
Employee: "I have to charge that too."
Us: "Then why did you tell us 'okay' earlier?"
Employee: "It's cause I just remembered, we ran out, and they didn't come to restock."
Us: "Yeah, I understand that, as we're putting our order, if you don't have something you can at least tell us, so we can pick something else. What if that was my favorite sauce in the world, and the only reason I wanted any of this other stuff was because of that damn buffalo sauce?"
Employee: Looks like he couldn't care less "We ran out, sorry."
Us: "That's not the point. We asked for buffalo sauce and you said "okay" then you give us our order and we didn't get any sauce... Don't tell people something and then you don't have it... You need to work on that."
Employee: "Okay. Have a good night."
Honestly, this was not the worst attitude I've seen here in town, unfortunately. I was disappointed at how inconsiderate the whole interaction seemed, and that's not even taking into account the complete lack of customer service (which I sometimes consider par for the course at fast food restaurants). He literally had to do the bare minimum to meet our expectation and failed with those responses. I don't like to mention names because I think people deserve a second chance, and mostly, I hope people read these reviews and pause to reflect on what they're doing and how they're running their business.

Read moreOn a Road trip with my daughter with the we debated where to go for an early lunch and decided to stop at this chicken place. We Both like spicy food so we opted for the 16 piece ghost pepper wings and also bought a large order of Cajun fries. They told us it would take 9 minutes to cook the wings. OK no problem after several minutes they brought the of order to the car and we left. Down the road a ways we opened up the bag and started eating. I guarantee that the Cajun fries were left over from yesterday we got there about the 11:30 a.m. so everything should have been hot and fresh the wings of course were hot but the Cajun fries were not hot and were stale tasting. Guaranteed that they had left over from yesterday. I wish I could give 0 stars because since it as a chain they don't even deserve one star for the ghost pepper wings if it was their own special recipe I give him a couple stars for the wings but being a chain these guys definitely let us down. I may stop at Popeyes in other towns but I will never stop at this 1 going through...
