Quickie Bakery — Restaurant in Laredo

In my personal opinion, this bakery is my go-to. My whole family loves it. I absolutely love the baked goods they sell. They have a variety of tasty treats, a selection of baked goods. They have the names of each item behind a glass screen. Your part is observing each item before buying it. I believe you would have to go in-person to buy and order. They do have examples on social media, though. They do make conchas and cakes for special events. For example, as shown in the picture we took, they had Star Wars themed pastries (cake, conchas, cupcakes, cookies, etc.) because they were promoting the Star Wars movie/series at the time. They had May the 4th be with you last year. They even had limited edition Solar Eclipse cakes and more when the Great North American Solar Eclipse happened. They have promos for upcoming movies like they had the Barbie movie promo conchas back in July 2023. I’m not sure if they did one for Mufasa (the Lion King). I think they do Disney-related themed pasties. Double check on their Facebook page and other social media websites. It’s a BAKERY HEAVEN. Previously I had a great experience with the young girls that works there in the afternoons/nights. They were very friendly with my partner and I plus my service dog.

However, this old lady who works there during midday gave me so much attitude just as I walked in. I went yesterday 12/7/22 at around 1 or 2pm. That old short lady was working with this young chubby guy. As soon as I walked into the bakery with my service dog, she started yelling “NO NO!” While pointing at me and my dog. I didn’t expect her to be that rude. She could’ve just said something along the lines of “I’m sorry, but we don’t allow dogs to be in here” and I could’ve just showed her and clarified that this is my service dog. Hated that experience because of her attitude and she kept giving me death stare and just gave horrible looks to my dog. I don’t want to go to quickies anymore. Don’t feel welcomed at all. No other words were exchanged other than the nasty attitude and stares from that...

This bakery is an absolute gem. Everything here is top-notch, but the conchas deserve a special shoutout—they’re soft, buttery, and perfectly sweet with just the right crunch on top. Truly the best I’ve ever had.

But beyond the incredible baked goods, what really sets this place apart is the staff—especially one worker in particular. I don’t know his name, but he wears glasses and has the friendliest smile I’ve ever seen. He’s always there on Saturday mornings, and seeing him has honestly become part of my weekend routine. Every time I come in, he’s not just helpful, he’s genuinely kind. Whether it’s recommending something new to try or just remembering your usual order, he goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome. You can tell he cares about what he does, and it adds something special to the whole experience.
