This was my first experience shopping at the Pastry House and I really wanted to give this local business a chance; especially since a lot of local businesses are struggling. However, the presentation of my purchase and their response to it left me less than impressed. I ordered two cakes: New York cheese cake with strawberries on top and a tres leches cake. I noticed right away that the cheese cake crust was broken around and was quite noticeable sloppy on presentation. I asked the owner?/employee as to why it looked that way and he stated that the weight of the strawberries brought it down and broke the base but it didn’t have anything and was fine like that. I told him but it looks broken and the ones on display, for example, at H-E-B don’t look like that and he just shrugged at that. I honestly, felt disregarded as a customer for my concerns. I initially just wanted to purchase a cheese cake at H-E-B but as stated above wanted to give small independent businesses a chance. I had also noticed a service charge; I asked why I had a service charged on my receipt and was then told it was due to using my card to pay for the transaction. I was never told this when I called to place the order nor before I paid for the order. Had I been told I would have just paid in cash, as I had cash but thought it would be less cross contamination if I paid with my card. I would not have had an issue with this if I was notified before the transaction about the additional card charge( I was already waiting for them to finish my cakes, although I had a set time for pick-up) but the fact that I was not advised especially during this time is very frustrating. I do have to say that their tres leches cake was tasty and looked presentable; however, for the cheese cake I think I’m just going to stick to the plain old bakeries at the super markets. The cheese cakes there look far more appealing and at a...
Read moreI was left very disappointed. I have bought cakes here before and never had issues, delicious cakes. However, yesterday I bought a cake for my Grandson's 21st BD off the shelf. I was left with no cake to serve my guests because it was full of mold inside. It takes days before mold developes. I felt very imbarssed in frontof my guests. At grocery stores dates are on the cakes so the customer is well aware of shelf placement. I will never shop for a cake again with no date, that was my mistake. However, the customer places trust in the consumer that what they are purchasing is of best quality. Specially, something we consume and eat. A few of my guests ate some cake...
Read moreI am very disappointed in the nut cake with pineapple and banana filled layers that I bought yesterday for a small birthday event and embarrassed to have served it. The banana layer filling included fresh bananas that had turned black and the nuts were old, thus making the cake icing bitter. Paying 26.00 dollars for a medium sized cakes with these defects was too much for such...
