the service was great - i have no complaints there. our server was sweet and seemed to genuinely care about our dining experience.
however, the ramen was so awful that i would be scared to eat here again. we got the pork belly (chashu) and if you know anything about chashu in tonkotsu ramen - you would know that chashu is supposed to melt in your mouth. it was the chewiest pork belly i’ve ever had and it simply tasted off - as if it was old. you cannot be serving this to customers as not only is it a health hazard but just.. disrespectful to chashu itself.
do i expect authentic japanese ramen from a chinese owned place? no, of course not and there’s nothing wrong with it being chinese owned - there’s plenty of chinese owned japanese restaurants. but i don’t think they’re even trying to hold themselves to a standard. this is without a doubt the worst ramen experience i’ve ever had. not to mention that the bowl was so devoid of any type of vegetables/toppings and the broth lacked any flavor besides msg. there is a lot to be worked on. if you care about your business you’ll stop responding to reviews with chatgpt and take ramen off of your menu for the time being - if you can’t do it, do not sell it. don’t try to do too much of everything.
the only somewhat redeeming factor and the reason for the 2nd star (1st star simply goes to our waitress) is the sushi was okay. it was fine - nothing seriously wrong with it but the salmon nigiri tasted a bit old as well.. which is also concerning but i’ll let it side because the ramen was so impactful.
lastly, our grilled squid was not grilled. it was boiled. just list it as boiled squid - not grilled. false advertising sucks.
there’s a lot of things to work on, so please take my review as genuine constructive criticism and hopefully there’ll be change for the better. again, the service and atmosphere was nice but the food needs to be...
Read moreNothing will compared to my favorite sushi place in Clearwater.I had high hopes this place would replace it. I was looking for a 5 star rating sushi place near me and didn't realize this place just open not too long ago.
I ordered a miso soup which was reasonable priced as $3.00 and I ordered 2 signature rolls which they average of $15-$20 per roll. The miso soup was alittle salty for my liking. The rice quality on one of my rolls started to fall apart and I noticed the bottom of the roll was mushy and wet. I was turned off based on the texture and didn’t eat the rest. The only thing I enjoy was the tempera shrimp inside the other roll.
The Waiter sucked! She asked for my drink and I asked for water. I noticed a male who wasn’t my waiter dropped it off. Once I ordered my food… another female waiter who wasn't my original waiter asked me how my food was and then later followed my waiter. Afterwards more people sat near by my table and my waiter did not follow up with me once i stopped touching my food a solid maybe 10 mins during the time period waiting to be asked if I was ready for my check. I had to asked my waiter and grab her attention for the check. Once received, I later sat another 5-10 mins looking down at my phone patiently waiting for another acknowledgment. She finally acknowledged This is where I asked her if they took Apple Pay. She gave me a weird face as if it was an odd request and told me to go up the register.I felt displeased thinking my original waiter couldn’t give me the customer service. I wished I didn't had to pay for that type of experience but I will...
Read moreWhat a great find this place was! I saw it while I was in the area around lunch time and decided to give it a try. It's beautifully decorated extremely comfortable atmosphere.
Jonelyn was my server and she was so friendly, so sweet with an ever present beautiful smile! I had a few questions about some of the menu items and she patiently explained them to me. I had a miso soup which was hot fresh and delicious. I then decided to be a little adventurous although it didn't sound very appetizing and tried the octopus balls appetizer. Before you pass judgement..haha.. with the help of Google I confirmed that octopus do not have balls! This dish is chopped up octopus meat and other seasonings formed into a ball with dough and lightly fried with a very delicious sauce. They were absolutely fantastic! Don't let the name turn you off.
Next I had a volcano sushi roll. Presentation was outstanding and the flavor was fantastic! Anyone that has eaten Sushi before knows at first bite how fresh the fish and other ingredients are. I knew right away the ingredients were all Super fresh and again very delicious!
I will return to try other things on their menu as there were so many options that both sounded and looked great! Overall rating for Kitsuné 10 out of 10. A must...
