DO NOT GO HERE !! Read bad reviews. I wish I could give it 0 stars. First of all I had 30 minutes before work to be here & my work is right around the corner. The customer that was being helped before me the guy working the front talked to forever without acknowledging me. Then when I did walk up to order I asked about a menu item & the bread it comes on it in which he said “I’m not Mexican !! This is not Mexican food tortilla means something different to me” very loud & rude when I was just asking a question. (Also not knowing I’m half Mexican so this was offensive to me). I order & instead of cashing me out he walks away & is taking forever to bag up an order that came in behind me & ring that girl up. Finally I tell him I only had 10 minutes left at this point & he said it’s coming. Everything is so dirty they don’t use gloves the lady making my sandwich was biting into her own sandwich holding it in one hand over my food as she’s touching mine with her bare hands !! I could tell this place was so disgusting and they are not clean. At this point I have 5 minutes so he goes to ring me up doesn’t tell me how much I hand him my card cause how much could it be ? just for when I finally leave to see he charged my card 15.50 !!! I turn around to head back & as I’m driving back I’m reading the reviews about how they’ll overcharge you & they basically steal your money from you. I go in to confront him & he was so condescending & rude he was literally making up multiple prices on the spot !!! First he said my sandwich was 10 then he said 9.50 then he changed the price of the coffee. Either way it should’ve been 11 at the most even by his own prices !! He said the prices on the menu are not correct & I said so you guys don’t tell people these prices are wrong & just overcharge them. Then he told me the extra I paid was taxes saying it was 4 dollars in taxes … he was so rude & started shouting I could see he wasn’t gonna refund me any money so I left. & btw, I tried the sand which (which I usually love Cuban food) & it was so gross it had no flavor & was such a waste of money I took 2 bites & threw it out. It was hard to even eat those 2 bites remembering how that lady was using her bare hands. I took several sips of the coffee & threw that out as well. So I spent 15.50 on no breakfast & was late because I had to go back to talk to him about the overcharging. Never ever come here. Go ahead & try you’ll regret not listening to this review. Oh & btw the hot food on display was sitting out from the night before lol good luck !! Hopefully this digusting rude place goes out of business or gets shut...
Read moreJust like other reviews, he charged me more than he told me. I purchased two items that totaled 15.20 with no tax. When it came time to pay he told me 15.00, which I assume he was just rounding it down but naturally thought I would end up paying about 15.20 at least. I got home checked my credit card statement and it showed I was charged 16.90. It is a 7% tax in that county so even at 15.20×7 it does not give you 16.90 but it is only a little bit more then the total should have been, so I didn’t make a big fuss out of it. The only thing I didn’t like about my interaction with the gentleman who owns the place is when he took my payment he immediately started talking to somebody else which made me think he was already aware he’s charging more than what he stated to me. He never gave me a receipt and then he just ignored me when I stood there waiting for it. I would suggest if you’re going to take the risk of eating here pay with cash. I did have the Cuban sandwich which I have had in other restaurants several, several times and this one was just OK. The bread was hard to chew into. I would not recommend them. The Papas Rellena was actually good. One thing I did notice is the staff really isn’t forced to be as clean as normal restaurants even as he was handing me my food he was touching his face and his nose. I don’t think he meant anything by that but in general, he should probably be a little bit cleaner if he’s going to serve food for a living. I gave him a three because overall the food wasn’t bad but I’ve had better, but if i was to grade him on his honesty, he would’ve received a zero. I’ll leave it to you to decide if you would like to eat...
Read moreWe ended up in clearwater on vacation from the NY area and wanted some authentic Cuban food. We were told to try the Cuban food in Ybor City and after a 45 min drive were extremely dissapointed. If experience has taught me anything, it's that the best Cuban restaurants are small unheard of locations that the locals love. That debate was put to rest when we found M&G. Just 20 min from clearwater beach and a small location off of a local road we hit the Cuban food jackpot. From the moment we walked in we were greated by the Cuban owner, Robert el rey del cafe con leche (king of the milk and coffee). I spoke to him about the horrors of Ybor city's Cuban sandwich made non traditionally with lettuce and tomatoes with Colombian owners (explains a lot). His reaction was priceless. "Yuck!", he exclaimed." I'm glad you found us, we make Cuban food the right way here." He was absolutely right. We tried a little bit of everything, croquetas, papa rellena, pastel de guayaba y queso, cafe con leche, carne con papas with yuca, and of course, the Cuban sandwich! Everything was traditionally Cuban and delicious. To our surprise, Robert makes the cuban bread for his sandwiches daily from his Cuban bakery in St. Petersburg. The meat for the carne con papas melted in my mouth like mom used to make as kids. The food was not too greasy or salty. We even got to talk to Robert and hear about his struggles and journey on coming to the US as a child. I really loved this restaurant. From the food to the staff, this is definitely a place...
