Honestly my experience tonight was horrendous from the very beginning. I’ve managed in the food industry so I understand what it’s like to be busy, and I also completely understand the circumstances we’ve been in also making them busy tonight; that however will never justify the actions of the employees working there tonight. I normally come to this exact location at least once a week and sometimes I’ll even come 2-3 times in a week depending on how much I’m craving a milkshake. I ALWAYS ask for a nutella shake with no cherry, and my boyfriend likes to switch up his flavor choice however he very frequently will ask for a combination of flavors and if Json is working at the window everything is great no problem. Tonight the curly haired girl with glasses and a short temper was working the window and was the absolute worst person I’ve ever had to deal with in a customer service position in my entire life. I was understanding when she thought my boyfriends’ order of a cake batter shake mixed with cookie dough meant he wanted those two separate shakes, but when we got to the window she kept trying to convince us there was “no way for them to make the order because they stopped mixing shakes” and in total rang us up for three shakes for starters, but she progressively grew more and more agitated and extremely rude with the fact that we only wanted two shakes and not the three she rang us up for and needed Json’s help to re-ring up. Then, she gave me my nutella shake with attitude and it had no whipped cream on it so I asked her if she could put it on because I had asked for no cherry, and she proceeded to tell me that everyone on the headsets “heard no whipped cream no cherry” and told me she couldn’t take it to put whipped cream on it even though not even a full 30 seconds had passed between the time she handed me the shake and the time I brought up the lack of whipped cream. She kept giving so much attitude from the look on her face to the tone in her voice and I was in shock at the fact that someone gave her the job of representing the company to every customer that comes there. She ended up giving me more attitude when asking for the shake back and then proceeded to talk about me to her coworkers as the window was closing.. disrespectful yet again saying how much attitude I have when I simply asked for a more than simple solution to a problem that shouldn’t have even occurred. She proceeded to get nasty so I stood my ground and she told me she would (word for word) “beat my ass” and Json came back over to the window and told us to leave the property. Beyond ridiculous. The employee at the window for starters shouldn’t even have a job. Any company that allows her to represent them is digging themselves a grave. Json really disappointed me. He should’ve taken control of the situation in a completely different manor. Im not sure if he’s the manager on shift or not however he should not have told us to leave and he should have threatened to call the police on anyone besides the girl who LITERALLY threatened to “beat my ass” because she grew frustrated over multiple errors she made during our 2 milkshake order process. Read moreBUYERS BEWARE!!!! So disappointed. We've been going to this steak n shake for years. Recently my family placed an order. When we got home ALL of our sandwiches were wrong and the fries and onion rings were not fresh. (We literally live down the street a 3 min drive). I called the store and told them about it and when I called it was the owner and he was very rude and accused me of lying about my food being wrong, so I told him I would bring all the food back because I am far from a lier. He continued to tell me he didn't want me to bring the food back and that he will replace it whenever I decide to come back but was very rude and unpleasant speaking. I'm the customer I paid over $40 for food that was not made correctly and I was talked to like I did something wrong. He (the owner he's African American) was very unprofessional and talked to me with professional words. Mind you I am not friends with this man. I have never met him. And I was being treated as if I was an associate to him and I was not. Just very unprofessional. So anyways a few days later my family and I went back for our replacement order. I asked to speak with a manager to let them know it was a replacement order and I came at the right time because once again the owner was there. I told him who I was and he said he remembers talking to me. So I repeat my same order and ask 3x for them to make sure we had 2 sandwiches plain and 3 sandwiches with extra mayo and extra onions as I had paid extra for when I first ordered. The manager once again was very rude and questioned me about the order. I stated that he said he remembered the order so what was the issue now. He yelled very loudly through the speaker for me to wait and hold on. Again very rude and unprofessional and uncalled for. So he finally confirms everything and once again I repeat myself and say please make sure the two sandwiches are plain and the other three are extra onion and extra mayo. He said ma'am I have it. Very rudely. So we pull up to the front door as he had asked. We waited about 10 minutes and then the owner brought the food out. Did not say one word to us. Did not apologize. He said absolutely nothing. So my family and I get home sit down open our meals and again nothing is made right. No mayo on any sandwich. On the two plain sandwiches there were onion and pickle. At this point I am livid. I called the store and speak to the owner once again and tell him that my order is once again wrong. But this time I stated that I did not want a replacement order. I was just calling to let him know that he was rude for no reason and he had not made sure that our sandwiches were made correctly for the second time. He told me that he watched then make them correctly and said I was lying. I told him I have no problem with bringing the food back to show him that I am not a liar. That is when he said no and to never return to his store. I am just baffled of how my family and I were treated. I will be contacting corporate immediately. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE. Dear Customer Service Team,
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration following a recent visit to your restaurant. As a loyal customer who has always enjoyed the quality and service at Steak ’n Shake, my recent experience has left me disheartened and reconsidering future visits.
Upon entering the restaurant, I encountered your new ordering system, which I found to be highly inaccessible and inconvenient, especially as an amputee who uses a wheelchair. The ordering kiosks are not designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities, making the process extremely difficult. The screens and controls do not lower to a suitable height, creating a barrier to effective use.
Additionally, the beverage station was problematic. The 13-second time limit to fill a cup is simply inadequate, particularly for someone with physical limitations. This, combined with the inconvenience of seeing but not easily reaching my cup, significantly impacted my dining experience.
Despite these challenges, my family and I proceeded with our order, which totaled $70. Unfortunately, the issues did not end there. Our orders were incorrect; the cheese fries were served without cheese initially, and after addressing the issue, the corrective measures were poorly executed. My fries were drenched in cheese, while my wife’s had very little, reflecting a lack of consistency and care in the preparation of our food.
Moreover, we were informed that we were only entitled to two refills per ticket, a policy not clearly communicated anywhere in the restaurant. This unexpected limitation added to our dissatisfaction.
While I have always been fond of Steak ’n Shake, this experience has led me to reconsider future patronage. Accessibility, clarity in service policies, and consistency in food preparation are fundamental to a positive dining experience, and I hope that these issues will be addressed promptly to prevent similar situations for other customers.
