The good parts: The shop is small but quaint with a small children's play area in the corner. The parking was plentiful, and the shop would be easy to access for someone with mobility issues who needed a wheelchair for example. There are no stairs. The shop offers a number of pastries, food options and (I've read) ice cream choices.
The bad parts: The shop is hard to find unless you are a local and simply know where it is or are using google maps specifically to find it.
The day I went their kitchen was closed due to the cook being absent, so I can't speak to how good the food might be. I seen nothing advertising the availability of the ice cream (which is a shame as I'm a big ice cream fan). I tried one of the muffins (lemon blueberry?) and found it to be simply "ok".
The Barista preparing my coffee was abrupt and gave the impression she did not want to be there. Of the three coffees she made for us, two of them were so sweet they could not be drank by anyone in our party. I took the drinks back and politely asked her for a rebuild and explained what the issue was. Instead of a simple "thanks for letting me know, I'll get to you in a moment" she got offended that I'd had the nerve to ask!
I was expecting she would finish with her current order and then work on my rebuild. Pretty standard for most coffee shops right? Nope! She pushed my rebuild to the very end of the line even as new customers were still coming in (my order was getting pushed back further and further). After about 15 minutes of watching her do this repeatedly we simply left.
$30 and one decent drink to show for it. We will...
Read moreUpdate: much better service for the last few months. I wanted to make sure it was consistent and have been much better each visit.
UPDATE 12/2: Thank you for your quick response, I will try again and will update my review after my experience. I updated my review from one star to two stars.
OP: I love the coffee mill but I was sooo disappointed that when I went in on Black Friday, the barista wasn't wearing a mask and I walked out without buying anything in a packed store where Social Distancing is hard in such a small place.
As the Barista is preparing consumable products it's very disappointing to go into a business on a very busy shopping day and to see employee's not wearing a mask during a pandemic. I could easily go to other large stores and purchase coffee but always chose to visit The Coffee Mill because I support small businesses. I've been in previously during the pandemic because it's important to shop small and every other time the barista would have a mask on. Pinellas county has a mask mandate and for public health for not only the employee but for the customers as well. I will no longer be shopping while there is a Pandemic at The Coffee Mill. I am writing this review to let others know that care about their loved ones as the virus rages through our state and county. Wear A Mask keep you and your love ones safe. - So...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer at this café, often stopping by to purchase drinks and baked goods while using the space to finish work notes before heading home. The owner has always been kind and even played music I suggested, which made the experience feel personal and welcoming.
Unfortunately, my most recent visit will be my last. Earlier that day, I had purchased a drink and later returned to finish up some notes — something I’ve done before without issue. This time, however, I was approached by a barista who informed me that in the future, I would need to make a purchase to use the space. I had only been there for about 45 minutes and, given my history as a paying customer, I found this interaction unnecessary and off-putting.
I fully understand the importance of supporting a business and have done so consistently, both through my purchases and by recommending this café to others. Still, I felt this treatment was dismissive of my loyalty as a customer.
I later called to express my concerns and was met with indifference by the manager. When I mentioned that I planned to leave a review, their response was, “Do what you think is best.” So, here I am.
The coffee is great, but the customer service left much...
