This was my first time at Butter Smith and it was an excellent experience from the moment we walked in. We were warmly greeted by Genny, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. My two kids were having a bit of a hard time at the table, and she immediately offered them some crackers while we waited—such a thoughtful touch that made a big difference. The food was delicious! The pancakes were perfectly moist (not dry at all) and full of flavor. The coffee was surprisingly good—something I rarely say about coffee in the fast-food/diner industry. This is definitely one of the best breakfast spots in Las Cruces, NM for families. There are plenty of menu options, so whether you’re looking for classic American comfort food, kid-friendly meals, or a hearty brunch, there’s something for everyone. I didn’t get to try the pies this time, but they looked absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself is spacious with lots of seating, plenty of parking, and full handicap accessibility. It’s a great option if you’re searching for family-friendly restaurants in Las Cruces with parking and space for groups. There’s even a little bar area (closed during our visit), which adds to the variety of what the place can offer. What really stood out was the service. Genny is attentive, active, and outgoing—she truly makes people feel at home. Her care and energy turned our first visit into something memorable. Overall, a wonderful experience—great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re in Las Cruces, NM and looking for pancakes, brunch, or a family-friendly restaurant, Butter Smith is worth the visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Update 11/14/2019: I'm giving an extra star now. We tried it again. Much better service. We had Courtney as our server and she was helpful, attentive, sweet, and friendly. They lose one star, as both of our coffee mugs were dirty. Courtney immediately got us clean mugs. Our food was very good, hot, and served to us quickly today. The price was really good for the scrambler + pumpkin pancakes. Plus, I requested my veges were sauteed first...and they were. Thank you, Courtney. You redeemed the Village Inn. Please like my review if you appreciate honest reviews. I don't get paid to write reviews to help you make an informed decision. Have a blessed day! ************** Original Review: July 2019 Flatware had food on it, had to request clean fork. We had to send both breakfasts back, as they got both wrong. Once they came back properly made (the way we ordered them) they were very tasty. Server blamed the cooks, but the manager who came to the table said she didn't write it for the cooks. Be certain to clarify that your server has written down exactly what you are ordering, perhaps that will avoid issues. We ordered sour cream green sauce breakfast enchiladas with sauteed onions and a cheese omelette with mushrooms. Both were excellent. I loved the enchiladas. My water is empty, never refilled. Though to be fair, I never requested a refill. The server said she'd take our credit card and receipt and handle it for us, but then she walked away without it. Did she have too many tables today? I don't know. She was sweet, but the service was scatterbrained.

My first time at this restaurant. I was so disappointed because I've never seen a fiasco like this. The young man that seated us was awesome. Our server was a completely different story. We placed the order and it came out quickly and my meal was OK but my daughter no. She ordered a double cheeseburger and the server didn't ask how she wanted wanted it done. She would have said well done. It came out sorta medium and had red in the middle. If she would have bothered to ask, she would have known. We got silverware, napkins and refill on her drink at the end of the meal. It took her 20 minutes for a refill on soda cause she was outside instead of doing her job. I had a grilled bacon I had grease all over my hands and no napkins. She saw my daughter didn't eat the burger but didn't ask why. She brings us the bill and the young lady ordered the burger the way she thought it should be done. Some people are good at customer service but she isn't one of them. We had to repeat 3 times we wanted napkins and silverware. I took a picture of the bill . The restaurant wasn't crowded at all. Was I supposed to wipe my hands on my shirt? Smh because I don't give bad reviews but this needed to be said. I'll never go to the location on Telshor again

A Slice of Culinary Heaven at Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies!

Hey folks, it's Eric here, your seasoned mortgage expert and certified mortgage advisor. I just had an experience worth sharing at Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of spectacular!

Firstly, hats off to Bonnie, our server. She was fantastic! Attentive, friendly, and really knew her stuff. She made our visit extra special with her warm and efficient service. Great job, Bonnie!

Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the waffles. They were absolutely awesome! Perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, just the right amount of sweet. It's clear that there's real skill and love poured into their food.

The entire place was spotless, too. It's so refreshing to see an establishment that takes such pride in their environment. Clean, well-maintained, and just a comfortable vibe all around. It really enhances the dining experience when you know you're in a place that cares about every detail.

As someone who understands the importance of high standards in business and customer service, I'm thoroughly impressed. Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies is doing it right. They're setting the bar high for culinary excellence and customer care.

If you're ever in Las Cruces, do yourself a favor and drop by Butter Smith Kitchen & Pies. Trust me, you'll be in for a treat. Can't wait to return on my next trip!

Signing off with a huge recommendation,

Eric, your seasoned mortgage expert and certified mortgage advisor. 🥧🍽️👍....
