My family has a long history with the city of Las Cruces & as a result, we come to Cruces every chance we can get, which is typically once every 1 to 2 years. We have our traditions. One such tradition is eating at least one meal (usually ends up being at least twice per trip if time allows. It only allowed us time for one meal during our most recent visit in early March, 2019. As always, the food AND service was excellent. Thank for continuing the long tradition of excellent food at an affordable (& reasonable) price, topped off by great service as well. Not living near NM, it’s extremely difficult, if not impossible to find Mexican food that is served asking the typical ?, red or green. In my part of Texas, Tex Mex is the traditional Mexican food fare & when one mentions chili, a red or green vegetable is not what’s expected, chili with meat and/or beans is expected. My overall point is, our tradition of eating at Nopolito allows us to get authentic New Mexican Mexican food, which is a rarity in a part of Texas where Tex Mex is what is available pretty much any and everywhere one turns. Very much looking forward to my next visit to Las Cruces and at least one (if not more) meal at Nopalito, allowing us once again to carry on our family tradition, which began in the late 1960s when my dad was a grad student at NMSU & continued into the mid-1990’s when my sister (born in NM when my parents were there in the 60s)chose to go to NMSU for...
Read moreAttitude of the workers are horrendous. Ordered 2 green chile salsa amd chips to go. Lady brings out 1. I remind her is two orders and she huffs and puffs. Later i decided to go back and get 4 more orders to take back to Santa fe. They said they already gave us two, and couldn't do any more....GAVE us like I didn't fn pay for it..... lol. Appearantly, they didn't have enough salsa to sell any more to go orders, just enough for in house diners. I mean you're a business, have enough salsa, never turn down orders..... c'mon man. Salsa was good but the whole trip was to take a gallon back home. The other store on mesquite really really blew the salsa. It was so disappointing. No flavor, really watery. Glad I came to this one cause the salsa was more like it used to be and should be. But they didn't have enough to...
Read moreMy wife's family absolutely loves Nopalitos, and now I do too. Almost unbeknownst to me, Nopalito has become a an emotional touchstone for me.
The day I graduated from NMSU as a non-traditional student, I had a celebration lunch of flautas with my in-laws at the Nopalitos on Missouri.
When my wife and I learned from the high risk ultrasound clinic that we would be losing our first child at 21 weeks, we crossed the street in shock and had rellenos at Nopalitos while we tried to come to grips with the awful news we had just received.
Just this past weekend my wonderful brother in law, his truly amazing wife, and two adorable children visited from Albuquerque for the last time before they move to Montana. I had the combo #3.
Nopalito is comfort food for us. It tastes like family. It...
