Great new restaurant that has it together despite a recent opening. I had the tofu fried rice and veggie spring rolls The rice dish had carrots and peas and was perfectly done. They use brown rice. Tofu breading was crispy with a soft center. They nailed it. Spring rolls were perfect, crispy outside and not overcooked inside. There are probably more vegan dishes here than in all of Las Cruces. And yet meat eaters can be happy. Plenty to keep you satisfied.
I tried the coffee which was fine. At $3 a cup, that seems high. Update: Take home containers are black plastic. According to a review of product recycling, it's harder to recycle. Best option would be cardboard based containers.
As of this writing they have a 4.6/5 rating. In the restaurant business, that's phenomenal because some people are never satisfied.
City Council wrings their hands about what to do to revitalize el Paseo. The owners of Chalkboard have probably done more to lift up local business...
Read moreWhere has this been all my life? Hidden gems are real, and no gem is as hidden or shiny as Chalkboard. This place wasn't easy to find, but good things never are. My order was simple: egg whites, potatoes, turkey bacon, and some protien French toast (which the owner informed me were also made with egg whites, so bonus points.) I could try and tell you how good it was and be here all day, but all you need to know is I had every intention of taking this home, and after sneaking a bite of it on the way out, I scarfed the entire thing down in my car. Fitness fans know how hard it can be to find quality food options that work for your goals, look no further, your new favorite restaurant is Chalkboard. Its not even just amazing for healthier food, its amazing for food in general. This isn't a "stop by if you're close", it doesn't matter how far you are, this is worth the trip. 6/5 stars, I won't just be back, I'll...
Read moreThis recently opened restaurant is quickly becoming an asset to our area. It offers a very interesting mixture of different food styles. Both fusion and Asian dishes are the most mentioned by friends who have eaten there. I've had the green chile beef over rice that was excellent, the breakfast with sausage patties for lunch that was also excellent and a green chile cheeseburger that was a tad disappointing because the meat was dry and cooked a bit more done than I like. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked. Next time I'll have to mention it. Service has been a bit rough which is probably to be expected for a new restaurant. Hopefully that will begin to even out. The decor is plain jane vanilla which neither adds or detracts from the dining experience. Prices are within the range of most area restaurants. I really recommend this restaurant for an opportunity to sample a variety of interesting and...
