The quality of food and order taking/dispensing through the drive-thru has been declining at this location of Wendy's over the past few months but Christmas Eve (late lunch) was the last straw. They will never get one cent of my business again. And I’ve been a lifelong customer of Wendy’s for myself and family, going back to the 1970’s.
However, from this point my review is edited upon reflection as of 12-30-23. It's not that I'll be going to Wendy's on Rinconada again --- unless some other restaurant goes in there later, I'll permanently skip that geographically desirable location.
The edit is because the human dynamics most likely involved on 12-24-23 were those of inadequate training for staff on the computer point-of-sale equipment (perhaps generally) or poor staff selection and retention policies --- also questionable management training and/or practices in the handling and preparation of edible food, accurate receipts and customer payments.
Those things didn't originate with the wage-paid people about whom I expressed concern for the hassles, rudeness and errors of what turned out to be inedible Christmas Eve lunch items after extreme staff dysfunction experienced in the drive-thru. Those things tend to come from on high where the profits are made and trickle down in business settings to result in inhumane and unpalatable circumstances. Not something I want to experience or reward as a consumer.
Saw a phone headline this week that corporate Wendy's was offering a bargain burger to the public. If only they spent enough from the top down to get, train and keep good customer-facing employees, maybe they wouldn't have to practically give away burgers to keep some clientele.
I’ve not generally had bad experiences as at Wendy's on Rinconada but only pleasant encounters elsewhere, at Carl’s Jr., Church’s Chicken, Kentucky Fried, DQs, and Whataburger in the general neighborhood area from 70/Sonoma Ranch down Main St. in Las Cruces. Thankfully there are plentiful fast-food chain options other than this Wendy’s.
Dion's is a little farther from where I live, but their excellence as a NM business for the local demographic came up on Christmas Day over the dinner table, and I gave them the 5-star google rating on Google...

Read moreI recently applied for a position here a few weeks ago. I hadn't heard anything from them so I followed up with a call and was scheduled an interview the next day (about two weeks or so after my application submission). I have over a year and a half of fast food experience with management training combined with other customer service experience along with a clean record and have never been fired. I could have gotten another job elsewhere more consistent that pays better, but I was just looking for something part-time that would be flexible around my school when I start classes.
The interview went well (or so I thought) and I was told that I would be contacted the next week regarding new hire paperwork and schedule, but was completely ghosted. Maria, the assistant manager said she would call the following Monday but never did. I waited a couple of days and called them. No answer. I even left a message and I never received any kind of follow up. I just wanted a little job to hold me over during school but I guess I dodged a bullet if they are this unprofessional in the beginning. Guess the big sign outside that says, "Hiring, all positions" is a bit indicative that they need...
