The first time we ate at Dave's Diner it was fantastic. The service was great and the food was delicious. That was about three weeks ago. When my in-laws came to visit yesterday we took them to Dave's Diner telling them how good it was but the experience this time was totally different. We sat there for over an hour after we had ordered while a bus load of teenagers who arrived after we had already put in our order were served and sent on there way. When we finally did get our meals the food was burned and obviously indifferently put together. My husband’s breakfast burrito had watery eggs and the strangest green chili either of us had ever tasted. Not good. I had bragged about how good Dave's Diner was to my extended family and when we actually went the food was horrible and the milkshakes weren't even made with real ice-cream and the chocolate they used was very bitter. I couldn't believe the night and day experiences! Next time relatives visit and want to eat out we will stick to tried and trues like the Hillcrest Restaurant or the Kocina de Raphael. The service may not always be that great at these establishments but the food is...
Read moreMy son & I were looking for something a little different. We happened to see the OPEN sign at Dave's Diner in lil'Las Vegas, New Mexico. The atmosphere is like walking back in time. They even have an old style jukebox filled with 'OLDIES MUSIC' that is playing as you walk in. The menu has a variety of food listed; the burger my son enjoyed was BIG, JUICY, COOKED TO TASTE & LOADED WITH THICK CRISPY BACON!!! My son couldn't finish his food. The Christmas combination plate I enjoyed, was delicious. Now, let me tell you about the shredded beef taco I had in this platter, PERFECTLY FILLED WITH TENDER, JUICY & TASTEY BEEF!!! My son & I plan on returning for breakfast just because they have our favorites. I could go on & on, instead let your tastebuds be the judge. Shannel Montoya, Hostess/Waitress & Angel Sisneros, Chef, were very professional, friendly & courteous. I hope y'all consider stopping in and giving this little, new diner in Las Vegas, NM a chance. In addition to my review, I would like to mention that Dave's Diner is adding a patio area to their...
Read morePassing through, decided to try it. A little busy but we were seated and got our drinks immediately. It went down hill from there. Took some time to get our order in. We waited an hour and finally told the server to check on our order, and if it wasn't started yet we would pay for the drinks and leave. If It was started we would take it to go. She came back and said our order was ready and she would put it in to go containers, which is what we did.
The food was okay, nothing to rave about. The service was marginal. Our server was obviously busy, and was apologetic about the wait, but helpful for the most part. I got the impression that the problem was in the kitchen. They must have been understaffed that day, because it seems everyone was waiting for their food.
The sixties decor is nice, but the building itself is old and needs some upgrades. Some of the bench seating was torn and taped over.
If you have time to kill, this isn't a bad place, but based on my experience and other reviews, go somewhere else if you don't have...
