Since 1949..........are you kidding? There must be only a dozen restaurants across America, in small towns, that are even 25 years-old, let alone 72 years! Hahaha....I rolled into Las Vegas late one night and searched up and down the strip for a motel room. Couldn't find a single one in July.2021. Of course I did have special needs: my 10 1/2 year-old companion, Raji, a 120 lb. Rottweiler. I needed a dog-friendly motel. Luckily, when I was about to hit the road and just continue driving to Raton where I usually stay at my favorite motel, the Robinhood Motel, I stopped by the Budget Inn and met Jay, the reservationist. Cool as Paul Newman in his famous role, Jay smiled, welcomed me and Raji, and I had a room. Better than that, I asked is ther anywhere in Las Vegas that I can still get a quick meal other than the usual chain fast-food places. Jay explained that the bar next door was associated with The Hillcrest and was still open for another 35 minutes. I walked over to nirvana and had a beer and wonderful chicken sandwich at the bar. So nice........... The Hiilcrest is a unique place. Next visit, I'll eat in their dining room, a special place that looks like Audy Hepburn or Spencer Tracy might walk in at any moment. At least I will and shall eat happily waiting for the ghostly guests to show.

This is an old school restaurant that serves American and Mexican dishes. My husband and I came here for lunch. I ordered the Salisbury steak and my husband ordered enchilada plate. We both enjoyed it. The serving is generous. It is worth the price we paid. It is reasonably priced, thus the five stars. The service is wonderful. Our server was attentive and nice and very friendly . I am also giving the atmosphere of the restaurant five stars. The restaurant has tables for couples, families, friends, and big groups. It is clean and comfortable to dine in. The restroom was also clean when we dined there.

Overpriced , worst stop of trip. Bathroom doors didn't close nor were the locks matched up to provide privacy. Obviously weren't cleaned by anyone in a while due to feces on back of toilet , overflowing garbages and empty soap dispenser. Food was mediocre, we ended up stopping again to eat as no one finished their meal. Our waiter was absolutely disrespectful to our group and didn't deserve the tips we left. Food wasn't even what 2 of us ordered. We waited an hour after ordering, we paid and left rather than complain. Horrible service will make us skip right over this town on future trips.

On 05 March 2019 I have had the worst experience ever other then our sever. We arrived at 1240pm order at approximately 1250pm got our food at 130pm cold. The coffee was luke warm. The food came out late and cold. I ordered a double hamburger with cheese and my guest order huevos rancheros. I showed the server that the cheese wasnt melted in my burger and it was cold to the touch. They offered to re-warm it wich is gross. I told her the server I didnt want anything because I needed to catch a flight out of ABQ. When you pay for a meal you suppose to get it hot off the grill not heated in a microwave or touched without washing your hands. When I went to pay the manager that is blond and old lady said I'm going to charge for it because we offered to reheat it. It was hot when it went out I touched it. I told her that is gross I dont know where your hands have been and you handle money. That is not ServSafe or great manager or customer service skills. I told her no I sent it back I did not eat at all. I offered to pay for my guest because she ate the cold meal. I did not want to pay for mine. She argued with me and told me I dont know where you come from but this is how we do business here. I told her is this how you treat tourist and Military as I am in the Army. She rolled her eyes at me. She said I treat everyone like this. I told her I am only going to pay for for one and leave. She threatened to call the police if I left. I dont take threats easy, so I called them for her on my phone. She then called the owner because I called the police. The owner came in and asked me who called the police. I told him I did. He was mad as well. Then he got the recipt from me and was trying to caculate time when we got the food. I told him instead of calculating the time you should worry about customer service and the ticked was printed way after we got our late cold food. and I was talking about the server that she gave great service and the manager interrupted me. I told her excuse me I'm speak you did enough talking after you threaten me. I also told the owner she was going from table to table talking bad about us and she was like who cares. The Police Officer Romero arrived I told them I was willing to pay which I did for my guest and I tipped my server $15. He said I did the right thing and they are in the wrong. I have always eaten there when I come into town with my Soldier or to visit family....

I'd give a negative two star if I could. Don't know if it is because we are traveling on a Harley, or that we aren't local, or they don't like the color of our skin . Everyone in the dining room was enjoying their meals and chatting with the numerous waitresses so we were expecting a nice experience. We were seated and that was it. We became invisible..no water, no coffee. After waiting quite a while I noticed a full coffee pot on a side burner in the dining room. As soon as I grabbed the pot it was magic..they could now see us enough to admonish me. After I poured one cup the manager/owner? Grabbed the pot and took it in the back to dump it. She said our waitress is coming right out..mind you there were several in the dining room chatting with customers. Our waitress never came so we finally got the hint and left. BTW this was our second time treated like this in this town. It had been a couple of years so we thought we would try...
