Umami is part of the Hwaro Las Vegas restaurant group. I'm a huge fan of their KBBQ and sushi restaurants. I took my cousins here for lunch on a busy Friday. This place was completely packed and we had to wait for a couple of minutes. This place deserves 5 stars for their quick, timely service and quality in food. Highly recommend ordering the following: -Hamachi and Salmon Kama -Tuna, yellow tail, seared lemon salmon, mackerel, yellow tail and salmon belly nigiri -Be happy, snow in Vegas, Dragon and the salmon lover roll The kama's came out piping hot and were perfect with some lemon. Tender well seasoned fish was absolutely delicious. Any nigiri you see with belly is a must order. The yellow tail and salmon were straight butter and perfect when seared. When you order the fish look at some of the marbling as well. I think some of the fish was so fresh it tasted like toro. They have over +30 rolls so you're bound to find something here you'll like. Umami is perfect for sushi beginners and those that are avid fans. This location is so well run that even with a packed restaurant expect your food to come out in max 10 minutes. Just remember to be mindful of how much you order as they do charge you for food that you don't eat. If you want a fun place to enjoy AYCE sushi and Japanese dishes this is your spot. Very inexpensive and a long menu where you can try a lil of everything.

Good lord, please run to this place, I mean where do I even begin. We were a group of four very hungry people that came here hearing amazing things. The place is adorable with VERY quick service. Our server Seiko was phenomenal, keeping up with our very large orders and not making a single mistake. The food: 5/5 for an AYCE, the food is amazing. Each dish has unique flavor and the fish especially was unexpectedly fresh. I say unexpectedly because I expect ayce places to be somewhat lackluster in the food department given the burden of mass food production. I was wrong here. Umami serves each dish up quickly without compromising on flavor. My favorites were: KFC, the s-hit, scallops, red snapper, lobster roll and the full moon roll. We came during the reverse happy hour on a Thursday so it was a pleasant surprise that the regular AYCE was 20 bucks instead of 30. Keep in mind this is an option and comes with the sacrifice of certain one time only dishes. We took the risk and went with the happy hour and nothing disappointed. I’m proud to say we destroyed everything on that table and left insanely happy. One of the best AYCE places I’ve been to, and I’m sad it doesn’t exist in my home state. Great food, great service and lovely (and busy!) atmosphere. Highly highly recommend in you’re in town in Vegas. It’s a bit of a drive (25 min) off the strip but trust me, WELL worth it.

This is gotta be the most authentic Japanese restaurant I have been to! The tables are pretty much small here especially if you have a party of big people. The atmosphere is appropriate for this setting and really love the dark one. I believe that this is the closest authenticity this restaurant is compared to ones in Japan though I have never been to Japan before. The wait is very long because we have a party of more than 8 people. When we got seated, it was very crowded due to table sizes as stated earlier. We ordered plentiful of dishes, but keep in mind that you may need to order again and again since not all the food can be on the table in just one sitting. The food is pretty delicious though. There are no entrees like bento boxes and lunch plates, but in return, you get more authentic food. Not sure if I am correct, but I think culturally when eating sushi itself, we don’t eat rice as a side dish or other side dishes. We ordered in a few rounds and people I sit with can’t stop. Goes to show how popular the restaurant and also how good the food is. I didn’t expect this restaurant to have a unique touch and thought it be like any other Japanese restaurant. This one stands out!

In the past I have done take out from this location, but I decided to dine in recently. I will NEVER be back. They have the worst service I have ever experienced since being in Vegas and the tables and booths felt disgusting! Overall, worst experience I have ever had dining in. My family and I left grossed out, uneasy, still hungry and thirsty! Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Story 1: While there I had to BEG different employees for chopsticks, napkins and plates for about 12 mins in order for my table to eat the food we had ordered ( we were a table of ONLY THREE people and I couldnt find my waitress, so I asked for help from the employees who walked by). We wanted to order more food because we got the all you can eat dinner menu, but we couldnt get our waitress to come back to our table.

I saw our waitress exactly 2 times the whole time we were there. Once when she took our initial order: 3 small Appetizers and three rolls. Then for the check to leave.

I had to track down our waitress in the end because we were instructed to FIND OUR OWN WAITRESS if we needed anything! With an attitude! Like what! I literally had another waistress ROLL her eyes at me when I asked for help. Like I would have asked my waitress for water, but I couldnt find her!! When I finally saw our waitress she was busy helping larger tables of people on the other side of the Restaurant and I think thats why she never came back to us.

It would have been cheaper to pay A La Carte, but once I got the bill I paid a left.

Story 2: When we were eating, I saw an ununaccompanied male minor about 12-13 years old, walk into the Restaurant with a Box of candy. He walked up to our table looked us up and down and then looked my purse and demanded I buy some candy. He got an attitude when I told him I had no cash. He was frustrated and it felt like he wanted to lash out in a temper, but my husband instructed him to walk away.

This kid was not a sweet little kid trying to sell candy, he was a rude and aggressive. The unaccompanied minor proceeded to walk his way through the restaurant to other tables, seemed like this was not his first time doing this in there.

An employee attempted to excort him out once they were notified what he was doing by another customer. When the kid was confronted to leave he starting cussing, talking back, got physical with the employee and actaually threw things at her. That sort of behavior in general made us very upset, let alone having do deal with that in a Restaurant. This experience made our night even worse then it already was with the bad...

I have been such a big fan of Umami for a long time. Due to their constant wait list and packed restaurant, we’ve only been able to dine in about 3-4 times over the past year. Unfortunately, this last visit will probably be our last.

When I arrived I put myself on the waitlist for a party of 2. They told me it would be close to 15-20 minutes, which was totally fine. After I got the text to come inside, my fiance and I were sat and given regular menus. The few previous times we’d been here had been during their happy hour, which starts at 9. Usually the menu is posted on the small table centerpiece, and it wasn’t this particular time. I noticed the table next to us had a completely separate menu labeled “Happy hour,” so when our server came over I politely asked if we could get happy hour menus too. Her response, “No…” I looked at my fiance who then asked, “Oh, why not?” and she began explaining how there is a separate waitlist for happy hour and since I didn’t mention I was here for happy hour we weren’t able to get it. She then said she’d “see what she could do,” and spent 5 minutes at the host stand. At this point I felt a bit uncomfortable and suggested we should leave but by that time our server came back and very reluctantly told us “We’ll do it for you this time, but next time you have to say you’re here for happy hour.”

We would’ve just left it at that and been thankful they made the exception for us, but our servers attitude did a complete 180 after she brought over our happy hour menus. Just 100% attitude like we personally ruined her night by asking about happy hour.

Keep in mind, my fiance and I are both servers and are very very understanding for most situations, but this just felt uncomfortable and borderline unacceptable. Regardless, we tried to continue to be polite.

Unfortunately, there are no rules posted about how we NEED to get into this very secretive happy hour waitlist, or that it existed at all. I’ve never seen a place that has 2 completely separate waitlists entirely. I’d also like to point out there’s no way to contact the restaurant to get info about anything because the number never goes through.

Upon reading other reviews, it seems Umami is also going through some sort of controversy right now. Between that and the absolute horrible service, maybe they should consider closing down and reevaluating how to run a business.

There are soooo many sushi restaurants in Las Vegas, we cannot wait to explore our...

Right from the get go I'll say; most if not all All-You-Can-Eat sushi has the same menu (nothing sets it apart). Food was good as it gets. Definitely make a reservation if you go or you may be subjected to a 30min to hour & half wait time.

For the price (7pm- $29.95 per person) I'd expect much better service. We were consistently left trying to call for a waiter/ server to order. Not just our table, but several others as well. If any soda is ordered; expect a soda can to be served with a plastic cup with ice. Straws are only given upon request. As well as (maybe a regular occurrence) being seated and told there are no more plates and here's an extra large stack of napkins and soy sauce/ condiment bowls (small enough to only hold a single sushi). Again for the price; I'd expect to have minimum a plate and be served a beverage in a glass with a straw.

Service: they definitely get you your order fast. I can not knock them for that. The wait time to be able to order more food is the downfall. Our server ignored several tables waiting to have what seemed to look like an argument with the hostess. The only way the server came back was by waving down a cleanup person to help us find our server. Following this, the server came back with attitude as if taking out her frustration from what was happening with the hostess and directing it to our table.

Price: there is a discrepancy between online price and in person price. Expect the price to be either $25 early and $30 for dinner. Toddlers exempt.

Atmosphere: small restaurant. No real wow factor in decor. Restrooms are awful. As if no one cleans them ever.

Conclusion: as far as All-You-Can-Eat sushi restaurants go; there are better. Price point is a disrespect what you get in return. Service needs way more work. Personal feelings should never be an issue put onto customers. Cleanliness is awful. Chopstick rappers, misc food, and disgusting restrooms are an issue. I can only imagine the standards for the kitchen. I Unfortunately will not...
