I moved here to LV 18 months ago n love the food scene. I’m a wing guy who grew up near Buffalo in the 70’s so was eating wings when nobody else knew what they were.
I’ve eaten here 2x so far, which says something cuz we rarely eat 2x at a restaurant given so many options. So food… I’ve ordered 6 wings both times with onion rings (that come with chipotle side). Based on reviews I tried Alabama white sauce. The wings are big (which can obviously fluctuate on delivery batches from distributors) and perfectly cooked before sauce/toss. That is a delicate process cuz you either over cook for crisp skin or under cook where I get salmonella n wanna beat the cook becuz I ate a rubbery skin wing. I normally ask most places to leave wings in the fryer longer. Saw pics on this place and 2 others wing places I’ve eaten here n didn’t request it n they were perfect! Alabama white was flavorful with spice but not hot at all (to me). It had a creamier texture so maybe some mayo or ranch as base? Whatever, I was pleased the chef brought a sample to taste before order. And I’m glad he did because they were a pleasant change from traditional Buffalo sauce. He said his fav was honey Cajun n I got that second time visit. Same…perfectly cooked crisp outside n juicy. The sauce was a nice mix of Cajun seasonings with a little sweet. Again, not hot but flavorful to me! Onion rings were cooked well, so adequate sides I enjoyed. First time by myself in midafternoon weekday n 2nd with my GF on a Sat afternoon. She got the Post Gym plate n said the chicken was perfectly cooked n seasoned so she didn’t need any other sauces, etc. In both cases staff was awesome. Bartender served me 1st time and a waitress 2nd time. Both were top notch servers. I have you as my regular now since I count you as 1 of 3 best wing places in Vegas out of a couple dozen I’ve eaten at here n you’re down the road from my place. I’d arguably put my 3Vegas favs in my top 10 of wings I’ve eaten all over the 46 states I’ve been too. I’m gonna challenge the chef when I come next for his version of trad “Buffalo” wings n he can up the heat. AND, I still haven’t eaten a burger there, which was my goal at the start lol. I’m not a food critic so no pics, too...
Read moreCame in for lunch on a Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the experience was! In brief, it was very clean, simple menus (actual physical ones! No QR codes required!), excellent typical pub fare, and very prompt and proactive service.
We came in and sat ourselves at a two-top, and the bartender immediately came over and introduced herself and took our drink order. We picked out the cheese curds as an appetizer, and loved them! Very crispy outside with a garlicky glaze. We both picked out what appear to be signature burgers, the VGK Burger and the Raider burger. They arrived in typical time, probably 8-10 minutes or so, along with a heaping portion of thin McDonald's-style fries, which were cooked perfect and pre-seasoned. The burgers appeared to be hand-prepped patties, quite thick, and cooked to a perfect medium. The buns were full and not soggy whatsoever, and the toppings were definitely unique, being a variety of aiolis and pepper jams, along with pepper jack cheese, avocados, onion straws, and even cheese curds! Sadly I couldn't finish mine, but man did I try.
The tavern is a smaller one, but spacious inside, and it's not kitsched-up with obnoxious decor all over the walls. It's simply decorated, quite dark inside, and overall has a very clean look, which also compliments how clean we found the place overall. Clean tabletops, chairs, and bathrooms all around, so bravo for good housekeeping.
Kudos to the cooks who brought our food out, great job fellas (sorry I didn't catch your names!), and Amy was a fantastic bartender, who was a mind-reader when it came to anything we needed. You guys all rock,...
Read moreWent to try this place out since the reviews looked good. The vibe is pretty cool in there love the chalk walls. They have cool happy hour specials and decent food specials as well. However, I don’t know if it was just the cook the night or what but the food was all so so salty. We were excited for the fried pickles and all you taste was salty batter. The pickle chips I think were maybe too thin so you didn’t get that dill taste you look for. Then we ordered our meals tried the Mt. Charleston and fried shrimp platter. The shrimps tasted like straight seasoning salt and our fries doused with salt. We asked for more lemons hoping it would cut the salt a bit it did not. After the 2nd shrimp I just couldn’t and just peeled off the breading. The fries were also super salty I just kept dousing them in ketchup, but in the end didn’t even really eat them. The coleslaw also salty and didn’t have that coleslaw taste I don’t know if it was lack of mayo or what it was just not good. Unfortunately, the Mt. Charleston was the same imagine super salty buffalo sauce thats what that was. Fries underneath as well super salty. The whole meal was so salty that we all felt nauseous afterwards. By the time we were checked on we were almost through, and it took a while so we didn’t want anything else at that point. It seems like a really good hang out spot/bar but food wise not so much. Probably won’t be back, but I hope our meals were just a fluke cause was very disappointing that or they are really trying to sell some beers. My husband and father in law had beers with their food and still it was salty so I guess...
