I don't know if management has changed in the last month or so but this restaurant has gone down hill dramatically. My family and I have been going here for over 20 years for the great food and customer service. But recently the food has been below standards and expectations. And the customer service is unbelievable. In regards to the food I understand COVID and inflation has hit everyone hard but I should not be able to count how many chicken pieces I have on my chicken greek salad which are usually 3-4 pieces. This is unacceptable with the same price standards. In regards to the customer service I have never experienced such disrespect from a restaurant before! My mother ordered a chicken greek salad and koney with everything which she called on the phone to pick up. 20 minutes passed and she went to pick up her order and it was not ready. She stood at the front for 10-15mintuies and nothing was said to her. The back kitchen staff rolled their eyes and moved slowly. No one communicated to her that they were working on her meal or how much longer it would be. Instead she was greeted with an attitude. Because of this she informed the cashier to cancel her order. The back staff proceed to say don't worry about my staff and what they are doing. So instead of trying to fix the problem and make sure the customer doesn't leave unhappy, my mother was disrespected for just wanting to know how much longer her meal would be. Another incident was a couple of weeks ago. Even though we had a bad experience we thought we would give them another chance since we have been going here for so long. I ordered a small chicken greek and a koney with everything for my mother, who works long 12hr shifts all night serving this community. I picked up the order and brought it home and the Italian dressing was not in the bag. My sister went up there to let them know that the dressing was not in the bag. And in so many words they called my sister a liar. The cashier who gave me the order says she remembered putting the dressing in the bag. They asked my sister why she didn't bring back the food and the bag. This is absolutely absurd! We were already inconvenienced driving back up there because of their mistake and them being accused of lying and stealing, asking for more food that we already have. What sense does that make to waste gas money for dressing we already have at home. We drive luxury cars. We do not need to lie about a dixie cup of dressing. When my sister was explaining this to the cashier and the manager, other employees tried to add their two cents and they were not even involved. No one was speaking to them. These mom and pop shops need to recognize the only reason why they are still open is because of the community. There are coney islands on every corner in this city but we decided to spend our hard earned money here because of the quality of the food and great customer service. Read moreToday I stopped by to pick up a bowl of soup, two hotdogs with cheese and a mini Greek salad no chicken. I placed my carry out order waited. After 10 minutes I asked the waitress and she said busy but soon. I get 30 minutes for lunch and after 17 minutes I asked to cancel my order. I had to be back at work for a meeting in less than 10 minutes. The waitress went and cancelled my order refunded my money. The owner stuck his head out the kitchen window to rudely tell me BYE and I mean rudely. I called back to discuss what happened and the owner came to phone- my reason to call was not to discuss the order but that the comment and attitude was completely unnecessary. I work for the City and have been to this establishment for many years. The owner was even ruder on the phone- I said it wasn’t necessary to make the comment and he said “it wasn’t necessary to cancel the order”. And then had to say “what do you want a kiss” and accused me of harassment and told me I didn’t have to come back. I have never experienced this type of behavior at any restaurant. He was Pissed completely off because I had to leave and cancel my order. I get that it was busy that’s why I waited but he did not need to respond or say anything. Yes, I will never spend my money in your establishment again.
Response: I never threatened you let’s be clear those were made by you. Canceling my order should not have been a problem or caused such hostility. It was never that serious until you felt the need to make a rude comment. The food was never for me it was for my kid who’s visiting from out of town and loves the soup. Read moreI order from Hellenic so much they normally ask me if I'm having my usual. Last week and today I ordered a $7.99 bacon cheese burger both times the bacon was missing. I called and spoke with Jim explained what was wrong. He said (twice) we normally put 2 slices of bacon. I asked if I could have a bacon cheese burger at no cost when I came back another day Jim said no that I needed to bring the bacon cheese burger back today. I asked if I could have the difference in cost of a cheese burger which is $4.99 back and Jim said no. He did however give me the name of the owner John. I also ordered chili fries and requested 2 slices of American cheese and instead squeeze cheese was on the chili fries. Be sure to check your order before you leave as the management is bot customer friendly and unwilling to take ownership for incorrectly made food. They are also not willing to refund for incorrectly made food. I called back to speak with John and was told "I think he's unavailable" I did leave a message however had to ask the lady that took the message if she needed a phone number for John to call me back.
