Decided to stop here to grab a cookie. Noticed a free perk for a free cookie (only reason why I come here) so I was there for lunch today and learned they don’t take Apple Pay (get with the times potbelly) secondly I did not know my perk automatically went with my original order of just 1 cookie. The cashier failed to even acknowledge me and was not too direct or into things which I guess happens but I grabbed the cookie by my own...I honestly could have grabbed the whole stack and I doubt she’d say anything with how careless the energy give off was...but since I paid for 1 I took 1..not knowing I get 2 with the free perk. I decided to come back later to redeem it later. So fast forward to the evening and I go in the store telling the representative that my perk was used and I did not get the free cookie apparently that I should have. I was told a generic response of how I cannot do anything etc. with the whole team of the other 4 members coming to the register. Upset I had a back and forth and told them it’s potbelly, it’s not that serious. The cookie is $1.59..id love and stated to pull out the cameras showing I only took one earlier but I know for something like this it was minuscule. The principle is what counts. To be discredited and reprimanded was an insult. I proceeded to say that this is Detroit a predominantly black and African American city...it’s all about perspective and understanding but It was talking a corporate worker that could not do a thing for me and just cared about the dollar/bottom line. I mentioned the word black from what I stated to them above ^ as I was leaving and the team got all fired up as my tone was rather loud misunderstanding the message of what I was saying. One of them putting a black power fist up. Another one needed to be held back from coming out after me. I told them I am a minority and middle eastern myself. Needs less to say this was not a proud moment for this team but it could have been prevented. By the books can say they may do a good job at what they do and were professional for the most part but next time trust and believe the customer. Read moreI have not had Pot Belly in years. I used to get it from here all the time with a coworker who left our office about four years ago; it could be five years ago. It wasn’t like I did it on purpose. Another coworker was eating pot belly, and I was like ok, I am going today. I got here, and it was pretty busy, but kudos to them for being very staffed with very upbeat and friendly people who got me my food quickly. Thank you for that. I ordered the Chili and the wreck sandwich; I have to say the toasted sandwich was outstanding! Very flavorful. I have to say I hate to talk trash about a place, but I am not sure what was going on with the Chili. It was beyond thick it was like paste. Maybe I got it at the wrong time. Read moreThis is what I got for paying $1.99 extra for avocado. When I bit into the sandwich it was literally crunchy. Called the store and was told they just put unripe avocado on everything today because they didn’t have any ripe ones and potbelly does not give managers the power to refund for add ons (have to go through a lengthy process of approval from GMs and DMs for full refunds) and they can only remake your sandwich on a different day. I just wanted my $2 back and not have to go back to a store again.
