Julia's Taqueria — Restaurant in Laurel

After living in San Diego California for over a decade and having the pleasure of eating authentic Mexican food in both San Diego and Tijuana MX, I never imagined I’d find that same authenticity in Laurel, MS but this place has it. Some of the best tacos and asada burritos I’ve ever had — right here in Laurel. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Wish I had known about this place sooner but never really noticed it. I think the ‘Taqueria’ signage is a little small and many people may not understand that term down here in the south. Perhaps some signage on the roof that yells ‘AUTHENTIC STREET TACOS’ would have clued me in a little sooner ;) Regardless, I’m glad I’ve found this little gem, can’t wait to get takeout from them again very soon. We stopped in this town before heading to our next stop the next day and we got the surprise of delicious food at this restaurant. We are Hispanics so we know what’s good (just saying). This place has the best cocktail shrimp!!! Shrimp fajitas, wow don’t get me started definitely a must try. The tacos de Azada (beef) well I’ve had better, it was to much fat but it’s still good if you like the fat. Horchata (rice drink) and pineapple drink, Oh My Goodness wow! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE! Not even joking, oh may I add that we stopped on our way back before hitting the road to home (AL) to eat AGAIN!!!!!!!! That’s how good it is. If you don’t think it’s good, not sure what to tell you. I write allot of reviews so I feel like I can give this place more stars if I could! Not to mention the staff are excellent.

Now that you read so far on my review, do yourself a favor and just go eat at this...

I didn't love it but it was ok. I've gone to another Mexican restaurant that had flavors that I absolutely love. We all have different tease buds. You may like it. Like I said it isn't bad but I just didn't feel like it was flavorful and the flavor on the carne al pastor wasn't at all like what I'm used to. I love the service though. They attend you well and are very friendly. They place was lovely. You might want to give it a try. I only went once and I only got the carne al pastor. So there could possibly be something else I could like but carne al pastor is my favorite and this place didn't have what I expected. Give it a try. They might have something you like. They are very nice people....
