The service is lacking compared to Maiwand Kabob's other locations. It seems they're a bit overwhelmed or understaffed at times. They will pick up the phone while taking to customers physically there, which is very confusing. After placing an order they'll sometimes just put the phone down and not respond to requests to confirm the order. One time after ordering they just completely failed to enter my order, leading to a wasted trip.
Service in store has also had similar issues, and then online ordering has the issue of modifications/additions being ignored. Seems to be because they use one list of modifications, many of which don't apply, but then they ignore the applicable ones. I like Maiwand Kabob's food in though, so hopefully they can address these issues.
1 Month Update: I was glad to notice the improved handling of customers on the phone and in person, so it's good that they take feedback seriously and work to improve themselves
However, I've found that there is quite a variation in the portion size. And paradoxically, when removing side items, I ended up getting less (not equal as expected) of the portion as they put everything in a small container. I though it may be an optical illusion, but when putting it in the same bowls we normally use, it was clearly...
Read moreWhere to start. Ofcourse the kabobs are a must here but they have almost every staple afghan dish you can imagine. (From mantu, aushak, to banjaan borani) let’s not get started with sides now. They’re all phenomenal. My favorites must be the spinach and potato. The chickpeas are a crowd favorite aswell. They allow you to swap out your salad for a side so keep that in mind too. Personally, I’d purchase the Veggie Platter as it’s a little taste of all the sides. Soak up all that goodness with your bread (naan) baked fresh in the tandoor. If you still have room at the end of your meal give the desserts a try. You can’t go wrong with any of them. Oh and if you’re in a hurry don’t forget the ‘Special of the Day’ it comes out in relatively quick fashion. It’s different and made fresh everyday. Service is great and ask the people in the front any of your questions. They’ll be sure to lead you in the right direction. Will be one of your best meals in town. That I...
Read moreWow is honestly the first word that comes to my mind. I went here with my boyfriend for lunch on a Sunday. Super friendly staff, explained what you got with each meal and helped us decide. The restaurant is also super clean, not a speck of dirt to be seen.
But truly the star of the show was the food. I got the chicken tikka platter, and it was heavenly. That chicken was SEASONED, the rice was flavorful and fluffy, the french fries were well fried and a light dusting of salt. And that Naan was delectable. Eating it was like an experience. Honestly if I had some garlic butter to add to that Naan, it would have taken me OUT.
Almost totally forgot, we tried the samosa appetizer as well. It's different from other samosas because I think it's made with egg wrap versus a traditional batter. So it had a very unique texture for samosas, but not bad. And the filling was really well done.
Overall, 10 out of 10, definitely try this place out. You will not be...
