My son and I ate dinner here this evening. We started off with two appetizers. I had the local oysters on the half shell and my son had the onion rings. The oysters tasted very fresh and tasted exactly how they were described. They were briny, and delicious. My son‘s onion rings were good. They seem like they were cooked the way they should be and did not have too much breading. For dinner, he ordered the seafood hot pot and I had the grilled scallops. The hot pot was inconsistently cooked. I am not sure if some of this is already pre-cooked, or what the deal is, but the sausage was super soft, somewhat overly soft, the shelled seafood, like the oysters, and the mussels were cooked fine. Two of the three shrimp were also cooked perfectly, but one of the shrimp was completely mush, like a mashed potato. The potatoes were not cooked enough. They were very firm (not raw) but also not tender. There were a bunch of raw onions probably an entire onion or an onion and a half worth ( is what it seemed like) in the hot pot. The raw onions were a big turn off for my son. Also some of the food in the hot pot was cold. My grilled scallops were cooked perfectly. There were six of them on top of the garlic, mashed potatoes. The garlic mashed potatoes were not very hot—you could describe them as lukewarm. They did, however, have a decent flavor. The spinach was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My son ordered the double crust key lime pie for dessert. I have to say that while this had a good flavor, if you are expecting a traditional key lime pie, I would not recommend ordering this. The texture is extremely dense and tastes much more like a cheesecake than it does key lime pie. It is a good size for the price. Our waitress Amelia was very nice and very professional.

Plenty of indoor and some outdoor seating. Arrived on a weekday evening with a party of 7 and was seated immediately. A little hiccup from the hostess where she said we could be seated but didn't take us to our table. For appetizers we ordered the mussels with lobster tarragon sauce, raw oysters, and calamari. All highly recommended (raw oysters for their freshness, mussels for the plumpness of the mussel meat and flavorful sauce, calamari for the crispness of the batter used and then accompanied sauces). Order the flounder blackened with the lobster tarragon sauce (see how good it is?!?!) with side of fries and rice. Flounder cooked to perfection, not salty but flaky. Had the accompanied crab casserole (not well/enough seasoned so I wouldn't get that again) and a bowl of cream of crab soup (maybe had a little old bay but not enough for me to notice, still would get again tho). Server was great and on top of our orders. Main entrees seemed to come out rather quickly (i.e. right when we finished/close to finishing our appetizers rather than in middle or much later) sp their timing was perfect. They also brought out a small personal bday cake for someone in our party. Overall a wonderful experience and would try again. Highly recommend trying their fish of the day (i.e flounder/rockfish/seabass/salmon/etc) and their various preparations and sauce accompaniments (placed on the side).

Visited for the first time on a weekday at 3 pm. Was greeted quickly and seated at an indoor table which we prefer over a booth (The tables outside were available but too hot to be comfortable). My husband ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, ingredients were fine, but only 1 was moist, the rest were dry. A bit disappointing. I had the Grilled oysters, larger oysters, which came out juicy and moist, toppings were good. He had the blackened blue catfish with mashed potatoes and spinach. We tend to eat very low sodium at home, so it was a bit salty for his taste, but in general for most folks probably fine. The fish was fresh and moist inside and perfectly cooked. He selected the lobster tarragon sauce which he liked. I had the Seafood pasta with creamy Parmesan sauce. The mussels were numerous but tiny ( 1 - 1.5 cm) . Serving size of the pasta was generous with shrimp, and pieces of calamari. The sauce was creamy and rich, but other than that did not have much flavor to it. Our server was attentive and asked how our meal was, the food arrived at the table at a comfortable pace and we did not feel rushed nor did we have to wait. Decor was casual, dining area clean. Overall a good experience, would not mind returning to try some of the other selections.

A Fresh, Flavor-Packed Stop at Hudson Coastal Raw Bar & Grill in Fulton, MD

As a frequent visitor, Hudson Coastal Raw Bar & Grill in Fulton, Maryland never fails to deliver a bright, Coastal-inspired dining experience that hits the spot every time. It feels like a mini-vacation right in our own backyard—a place where style, quality, and hospitality all come together.

What makes it stand out Fresh seafood, bold flavors: The raw bar lineup and seafood dishes are consistently fresh and creatively prepared. From pristine oysters to lobster tails and chef-driven specials, every bite tastes like seaside lunch meets refined cooking. Thoughtful menu variety: In addition to seafood, the menu offers solid land options, reliable sides, and a few playful daily specials that keep me curious and coming back for more. Excellent service: The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. They’re happy to chat about the catch of the day, make smart wine pairings, or suggest a perfect combo for the table. Comfortable, inviting vibe: The dining room strikes a balance between casual and upscale, with a relaxed bar area for drinks and a dining room that’s perfect for date nights, family dinners, or a quick, satisfying outing with friends. Value and portions: Generous portions and generous quality match up well with the prices. You leave satisfied, often with leftovers to enjoy later.

Signature dishes I love A crisp selection of oysters orshellfish from the raw bar, paired with a zesty mignonette. A seafood entrée that showcases the freshest catch of the day, accented with bright herbs and a perfect citrus finish. A shareable plate or two to pair with a lively conversation—always a crowd-pleaser.

Ambience and experience A welcoming, maritime-inspired atmosphere that makes you feel at ease as soon as you walk in. Great spot for gatherings: Happy hours with friends, family celebrations, or a casual dinner after work all feel perfectly suited to Hudson’s vibe.

Practical tips Check daily specials: The kitchen loves a good seasonal twist, and those specials are the best way to sample something new. Reserve for busy nights: The place fills up on weekends, so a reservation helps you skip the wait and maximize your time. Pair with a crisp white or a full-bodied red to complement seafood-centric dishes. Save room for dessert or a post-meal cocktail to round out the evening.

Bottom line Hudson Coastal Raw Bar & Grill in Fulton, Maryland is a standout for seafood lovers and anyone who appreciates a thoughtful, flavorful dining experience. High-quality ingredients, generous portions, and attentive service create a memorable night out that fits both casual and special-occasion vibes. Highly recommended for date nights, family dinners, or a relaxed evening with friends who share a love...

I'm not fond of businesses explaining away why they can't accommodate you with reasons that include what they have to do for other customers, as if you're not a customer too. Of course there are exceptions, but today it didn't fly. I made a reservation to this place and arrived on time. Apparently there is a rigid assigned seating policy for folks that made reservations. We didn't like the seat we were assigned to and asked to be moved. The restaurant wasn't full yet, but we were met with "the restaurant is booked and we're expecting other customers." Wait, I'm a customer. I made a reservation. I'm on time and I don't like the seat you assigned me because its uncomfortable and tight. Why wouldn't we be able to move to one of the other vacant tables that accommodates the same amount of people? Why is the seating arrangement so rigid that the folks who showed up on time can't get a more comfortable seat if other tables are not yet occupied? Further, why is the guest with a reservation (who hasn't arrived yet) more of a guest (who also has a reservation) than the one standing in your presence? Does my money and patronage not have the same value? That was just the start of a bad first time experience. Now to the review...

Just left Hudson Coastal in Maple Lawn in celebration of Fathers Day for my husband. Chose this neighborhood spot because of the good reviews and wanted to give a new spot a shot. Perhaps they do better for what they're known for...seafood. Bunch was disappointing. I'm a foodie and things such as temperature, texture and taste are meaningful to me. Everything on the buffet that wasn't raw was overcooked. The bacon was just second under burnt, the eggs were scrambled a minute past hard, the potatoes were overcooked to the point of dried out, hard and tasted old like they were precooked the day before and reheated in the microwave. The pancakes were rubbery, the roast beef was overcooked and under seasoned. I asked for a slice cooked medium, so the server obliged me with a portion from the center of the cut/roast and it still placed on my plate well done. The overall experience was so disappointing and dissatisfying I apologized to my husband for messing up the one meal he enjoys the most...bunch. The bill came at a whopping $181 for 4 people. I realized the bill included the 20% gratuity. I imagine in spite of it all the server did his job adequately, but he didn't offer any personality. My husband, kids and me offered more please and thank yous than he cared to make eye contact or conversation to receive. I could go on and on, but for what?! I didn't have a good experience. I spent $200 on food and service I didn't like and I simply won't go back. Happy...

I went to dinner at Hudson Coastal on Father’s Day. There were four people in my party. We started with drinks...two watermelon crush, mixed berry crush and cucumber crush. Each of the drinks taste like water, no flavor and absolutely no alcohol. This man comes by whom we assumed was the manager but come to find out he was the owner. He asked how was everything and we proceeded to tell him the drinks taste like water. He was very sarcastic and asked well what do you want me to do. I stated I would like an orange crush because I figured you cant go wrong with an orange crush and he stated “if you don’t like our crushes why do you want to try another.” I totally ignored his sarcasm and he stated he would bring another shot of alcohol for each drink. He comes back with 4 shot glasses of alcohol in his hand. Then this “owner” puts each glass to his nose and smells each drink then pours it in each glass. Who does this, why would I want to drink something that you put to your nose to smell. All I know is if this is done in front of my face there’s no telling what you’re doing behind my back. We told him we didn’t want the drinks but he only took one away. We ordered the crab flatbread as an appetizer....we could barely taste any crab. Two people ordered the Seafood Sampler, one ordered the Seafood Risotto and one had the Coastal Lasagna. Needless to say the food was worst than the drinks. Seafood sampler...crab cake had too much filler, fish had no flavor and shrimp was over cooked burnt to be specific on each order. My daughter has been sick all day from eating the coastal lasagna and the seafood risotto was tasteless as well. When we received our bill only one drink was removed from the bill. We had to request the other drinks be removed as well. Another manager came over to discuss the issue and removed the drinks from our bill. He gave us recommendations on what to try the next time we come but I will never spend another dime in this place. I already spent too much money on a lousy meal...
