Good not great. The bruschetta appetizer was the star of our meal, with perfectly charred/toasted bread and the PERFECT ripe and yummy tomatoes covered with fresh garlic, olive oil, and a little balsamic. I could have eaten a mountain of that bruschetta! The pizza was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. This was a very doughy pizza and it doesn't cook to a firm base for the pie. It was pretty much impossible to pick up a slice and eat it by hand, you pretty much have to use a fork until you get right out to the crust. The sauce was nice. It wasn't heavy - more of a refreshing, slightly acidic and tomato-y sauce. The cheese was standard mozzarella, not a stand-out. The pepperoni was a bit disappointing... it reminded me of the cheap sliced Hormel bacon in the unrefrigerated bag I get at the grocery store. I feel like the pepperoni is a missed opportunity to go with something that stands above the basic competition. Service was good. Pricing was.... well the atmosphere was nice so I guess that's what we were paying for, too. I felt prices were a bit above what the food demands based on this experience. The bruschetta was SSSOOOOO good, I'd go back for that again but try a different main dish and skip the pizza next time.

We visited Mimmo's Ristorante Pizzeria for lunch while touring Laurel. We enjoyed our meals very much! My wife ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken, and I had Penne Alla Caprese with shrimp added. My wife let me have a little of her salad (she ordered the big one). The romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp, the shavings of Parmesan cheese were robust and plentiful, and the dressing had an appropriate sharpness to it. As for my Penne Alla Caprese, the pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was flavorful but not overpowering. It was perfect for lunch. Our service was also quite good, and the unsweetened iced tea that came with my meal was crisp and refreshing. ____________________ Back for dinner and once again, a fantastic experience! Brittany gave us excellent, friendly service, making our evening even more enjoyable. We started with the indulgent Italian Garlic Rolls, knots of bread brushed with garlic butter and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese—they were absolutely delicious! For our main courses, my wife had the Penne Bolognese and I chose the Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and generously portioned. We left feeling happy with everything—the service, the meal, and the atmosphere.

This restaurant was recommended by the locals and appeared that they do, indeed, support it. When we arrived appx 5:30 only a few tables were occupied. Within 30 min they were full with people waiting. That is a testimony in itself. Because we are very familiar with Italian fare, we ordered something different to us - chicken saltimbocca. It was quite good although not prepared and presented in the standard way as I discovered when researching later. I ordered terrimasu for dessert and it ranks among the poorest I've had.....way too much whipped cream and powdered sugar overpowering the portion. Now I must address the server and the wine. They are currently advertising for servers so I can only hope ours was new and inexperienced. She was unable to make any recommendations and was pretty much unfamiliar with the menu. She wrote everything in s small notebook word for word, including our wine selection. We had chosen a $48 chianti but she ordered the $60 bottle. We did not realize the error until the bill came - quite a surprise. As you might imagine the wine was the star of the meal. I will end by saying the food is good, the atmosphere pleasant and the service needs improvement.

Ohhhh Mimmos - I really wanted to like and love your restaurant! I have an affinity towards Laurel and so desired a fun experience at your restaurant and good food. What I received was so dissatisfying to my expectations!!! We walked in for an early dinner and the place was empty. Just a few people sitting in booths. There were 2 team members whispering at the bar the whole time we were there. Our waitress, God Bless her had zero personality which had me interpreting that she did not want to be there. She would disappear often and talk to one of the cooks by the pizza oven. When I didn’t order a drink or water she looked at me like I had 3 heads. We ordered the knotted garlic bread, a house salad and the spaghetti marinara. My mom is vegan so she asked if there were any other vegetables that could be added to the spaghetti. The only option was spinach. So we tried it. The appetizer was delivered with zero panache. The waitress set a plate of breadsticks in front of us that were soaked in a stick or two of butter. Don’t get this if you are lactose intolerant, you’ll never make it home without a bathroom. The knots were great, just really really rich. I’d prefer more garlic and parm cheese on mine and less butter, but hey - it was a local novelty, so hey - let’s go with it. The salad was put together nicely, nothing special - fancy greens, tomatoes and cucumbers. The house dressing was pinkish/purple. I couldn’t tell what it was and it was so thick it didn’t coat the vegetables. It didn’t taste bad but it definitely didn’t have a rich Italian dressing flavor. And lastly the spaghetti marinara. Oh Mimmos, how can you say you’re from Italy?? Maybe you’re from a different region. We are from Northern Italy and grew up with fresh tomatoes and spicy peppers. Maybe you were out of ingredients when we visited because your red sauce tasted like you opened an old can of Campbells tomato soup. There was no depth or flavor, only the ascidic bite of unripe tomatoes. Ugh!!! How could you serve that! We had to salt and pepper and even put on our monk fruit sweetener to make the sauce palatable. The pasta in itself was cooked well, so once we added the flavors the sauce was missing, the pasta was edible. And lo and behold the spinach was cooked to perfection! When we had finished this lackluster meal we waited for the waitress to stop talking to the pizza cook before we could get our bill. I’m grateful for the cleanish restroom, but even that could have been better. Whoever put a new trash liner in didn’t put the lid on all the way and there was trash on the floor. I’ve heard how the citizens of Laurel are proud to have their downtown area making a comeback. I didn’t get any of that Laurel pride from visiting Mimmos. The best feature in the restaurant is the fountain. So I made a wish that I was going to have better dining experiences during the rest of my vacation. So...

Hear ye, hear ye, the citizens of Laurel and all who traverse its noble bounds! Let it be known that the establishment known as Mimmo's Ristorante Pizzeria, situated at the heart of our fair city on Central Avenue, has been graced with the favor of four stars.

Upon the authority of those who have partaken in its offerings, it is declared that the sustenance provided within is of a quality most pleasing. The culinary artisans of Mimmo's have been lauded for their skill in crafting dishes that sing the praises of Italian tradition. The atmosphere within these walls is likened to a romantic sojourn in the old country, with an ambiance that beckons one to return.

Yet, let it be noted that the service, though oftentimes commendable for its friendliness and swiftness, has on occasion faltered in its consistency. And while the fare is generally met with approval for its delightful flavors, there are murmurs from the populace regarding the balance of cost and portion.

In summary, Mimmo's Ristorante Pizzeria is bestowed with a commendation of four stars, a testament to its good food, charming atmosphere, and service that, when at its best, enhances the dining experience. Let all who seek a taste of Italy within the bounds of Laurel venture forth to Mimmo's and partake in its offerings.

Thus, the decree is set forth, and the people are encouraged to gather and witness the culinary marvels that await within the walls of Mimmo's. Go forth and let your senses...

Worst Italian restaurant we've ever been to, unfortunately. We had very high hopes for this place because it's in Laurel Mississippi. The place where Hometown is shot for HGTV. We loved Laurel and everywhere else we ate or shopped in the town of Laurel, but Mimmo's fell seriously short on the food, the prices they charge and the way it's laid out inside. $22.00 for a small amount of Chicken Piccata that wasn't that good (small breast cut in half and not much pasta nor much of the lemon caper sauce) and that doesn't even come with a small salad. It just ruins your whole experience. Plus, if you want bread, you have to ask for it! The servers don't tell you it's complimentary with your meal if you order a pasta dish. The bread is small toasted rounds with oil for dipping in need of more herbs and some parma cheese. It's not the garlic knots, you have to purchase that bread separately from your meal! There is absolutely nothing that lets you know you won't be getting any bread and dipping oil unless you ask for it. On the other hand, they sure let you know with a little sign on your table that if you pay by credit card you're going to incur a credit card fee charge! Pay with cash, no fee. We'll go back to Laurel in a heartbeat! We just won't be visiting Mimmo's again and DO NOT...
