In the trenches of culinary warfare, where flavors clash and only the finest dishes emerge victorious, Sake Cafe Hibachi & Sushi stands as a bastion of excellence. As I ventured into this gastronomic frontline, the sashimi was my ally in the battle against mediocrity. Each slice of sashimi was a masterstroke of precision, akin to a skilled marksman in the heat of battle. The fish, fresh from the ocean's embrace, laid before me like a treasure trove of the sea's bounties. With each bite, I found myself transported to a serene sea, far from the cacophony of clashing cutlery and the silent anticipation of fellow diners awaiting their feast. The sashimi selection was an arsenal of the finest cuts, each piece glistening like polished medals of honor. The salmon, with its rich, buttery texture, melted in my mouth, a silent explosion of flavor. The tuna, bold and commanding, asserted its dominance with a taste so profound that it could silence any culinary critic. In this theater of war, where each dish battled for supremacy, the sashimi at Sake Cafe Hibachi & Sushi declared victory with every delicate, flavorful morsel. It was not just a meal; it was a triumph, a celebration of peace after a hard-fought battle on the palate. I salute Sake Cafe Hibachi & Sushi for their valiant service in the ongoing quest for culinary perfection. Their sashimi is not just food; it's a declaration of victory, a testament to the art of sushi craftsmanship. Five stars are awarded, not out of duty, but out of sheer admiration for their culinary prowess.

Huge menu to go through but ordered the never bored tuna, really long wait. ended up getting my salad and and miso soup that came with the katsu I ordered after going over the menu before the tuna. Never bored tuna wasnt torched, barely had any masago and ended up sending it back for more masago (see pics for before and after). New Orleans roll was lacking the snow crab, instead looked like imitation crab, and the ginger that came with was so bright red, it was unnatural. Tables had no salt or pepper. Chicken katsu was so bland and dry. Had to douse with wasabi soy sauce for flavor since no salt or pepper. Katsu sauce tastes store-bought. Service could be improved as well. Soda felt watered down. This was my treat to myself for finishing a project in the area and based off overall rating, it seemed like this was the move. Should have read the reviews more thoroughly because sadly I left feeling like the meal was soulless cause the tuna wasn’t fresh. I know we are a bit away from the gulf so I guess expectations should have been set lower

Good place to get japanese food in Laurel. I enjoyed their teriyaki combo which came with half a orange, 8 small pieces of sushi, a cup of fried rice, grilled chicken, yum yum/hibachi sauce, and 2 gyoza (potstickers/dumplings). It didn’t come with salad and soup like it said which is disappointing, I did order online for takeout if that matters. Anyways the food was good, good variety and good price although like I mentioned a bit small of a portion size since there was no salad or soup.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW :D [ every section is a pretty quick read.]

I had been craving sushi for a bit, and I was in the area with my family looking for a place to eat. I saw this place on my maps, and checked reviews (they were very mixed), but nonetheless I decided to ignore the negative ones.

INTERIOR/EXTERIOR To start, the first thing I noticed was the decorations. This place is so well decorated, and I really felt comfortable being there. There were comments about it being messy, but it wasn't too messy. However, I had to brush off my seat before sitting down.

Now the exterior, on the other hand, I noticed it was quite small and looked a little run-down. However, from my experience, run-down restaurants tend to be pretty great!

FOOD & DRINK: My family members both had the sweet tea, and they enjoyed it very much (opposite of the review left about the tea being sour). I myself, enjoyed some bubble milk tea. I am actually a huge fan of boba, and had been craving some for quite some time. I don't usually enjoy taro milk tea, but I really liked Sake Cafe's! It wasn't too sweet, and I liked the flavor of the tapioca pearls.

Food time. As an appetizer, we decided to try the squid, which I had never tried before. The texture was interesting, but I did enjoy the flavor. (I also liked how it came out steaming.) I then ordered some teriyaki chicken, with the tropical roll. The chicken also came out fresh and steaming, and I really enjoyed what seemed to be a buttery teriyaki sauce on the bottom of the pan. (I love me a good sizzle). The chicken was pretty good, though I would've liked a bit more seasoning.

SUSHI! I loved the way the sushi plate was decorated with a little palm tree on the side. As for the sushi itself, I really enjoyed this tropical roll. It comes with crab and mango within the roll, and it is topped with this pink/white thing and fish eggs! I recommend trying out this roll if you like to have a bit of a sweet taste.

Unfortunately, I did tend to get full a bit fast since I was trying a bit or sip of everything at the table, but it was worth it.

The bad reviews did not have an affect on my dining experience, and I am truly happy I pushed them to the side to try a new sushi place.

I give this place 5 stars, simply because I was pleased with the service we received. Our waiter was great, checking in on us, but not too excessively which I liked. The food was pretty good, despite the lack of seasoning, and the drinks were great! I'm also in love with the interior, and I really did feel like I was in a comfortable atmosphere.

Thank you Sake...

My family and I dined here frequently before COVID-19. When everything shut down in our home town, Laurel, MS, it was devastating. Then, appeared Door Dash! We have Sake Cafe delivered frequently to our home. They offer no contact delivery—anyway, enough of my Door Dash praise. I’ve visited many restaurants in my past, some forgettable; but, it’s the restaurants that go the extra mile for the customer that keeps my family coming back. Sake Cafe is my drive the extra mile restaurant. Recently I placed an order. I paid, closed the tab. I didn’t think anything about the price; however, Sake Cafe and Door Dash both sent me a personal email admitting they accidentally overcharged on an appetizer. They immediately credited my account. I have never had a company admit a mistake to me personally and offer their sincerest apologies. They could have ignored the error, kept the overage, and looked the other way. I wasn’t at the restaurant; I used Door Dash. I never once questioned anything on my receipt because I felt it was a great price. Sake Cafe took it upon themselves to notify Door Dash and me personally. Sake and Door Dash (Laurel, MS) know how to gain trust. Admitting their error to me and immediately correcting the issue before I knew of the discrepancy won my business for a very long time. Thank you for treating my family with kindness...
