About two weeks ago my mom and I decided we would go to captain Paul’s for dinner since we were loyal to Paul and heard that the new owner worked with Paul and to give them a chance.
So we went and my mom went inside and ordered us fries and 3 Italian hotdogs. My mom spent a total of $30. After ordering and waiting my mom received our order and found our fries were less than a small and weren’t cooked and was only told afterward that the fryer was down and was offered ice cream which she declined and when she came out I asked her why didn’t she give them back but she didn’t want to be rude and wanted to be understanding of the fryer so we just took the loss on the fries. Well when we got home and went to enjoy our Italian hotdogs that we had been craving all day and loved from captains Paul’s… only to find that the potato’s and peppers were hard and not cooked properly and couldn’t even find the hotdog..we had to put them in the microwave hoping to not waste it but it was NO GOOD!!!! it was so disappointing and usually we are quiet but for the prices we decided to speak on it. We threw out two hotdogs and didn’t eat the third so we took the hotdog back!!!!!! just so we could have proof of how bad it was and it wasn’t some get something free.
We went back and my mom went inside.. a side door was open so my mom walked in and found the owner and tried to talk to him about our experience without it being out in the public to embarrass or disrupt the business ONLY for the owner to tell her to get off his property.. to take her trash with her (his horrible hotdog) and don’t ever come back to his business. The way he talked to my mom I’m so glad she didn’t tell me until after we left because that was soooo unprofessional and as a new business owner you don’t talk to customers like that. I don’t believe customers are always right at all BUT you listen to feedback and you take responsibility not kick a customer out who is trying to talk to you about their experience.
Yes issues happen but don’t blame it on your poor dog don’t blame it on the fryer you take responsibility and you make it right. You forget that we are USED TO THE ORIGINAL CAPTAIN PAUL so you have an expectation to meet and exceed. It’s sad people have to come to Google in order for you to listen but you can’t listen to customers face to face. You don’t EVER have to worry about us coming back and I will post my reviews on all of the Mercer county food groups and to my co workers. By the way my name is Derek and my mom name is Joann. You don’t have to worry about us on your property. Learn from your mistakes
UPDATE* You are as full of crap as your food.. she never demanded money back!!!! the very least we expected was you to right a wrong as you can see you are offering people on google to correct your shortcomings but only after they left a review… when we buy we don’t buy with the intent to return or get a money back we want to enjoy… SECOND it wasn’t a week old hotdog.. we returned the next day and you were closed so we returned the day after NOT week and you know that… THIRD since when is it a health violation to take back bad product??? When you turn food away at any restaurants they take it and trash it not say oh you take it back home with you are you insane!!!! I work in retail with food when customers bring back product we don’t tell them take it home with you it’s a health violation we take it and look and a knowledge and trash it… another reason why you shouldn’t be running a business. Is it a health violation to be selling under cooked food raw potatoes and peppers? And finally we don’t need to make our own hotdogs there’s other businesses that know how to deliver quality food without mistreating customers. It’s one thing to be rude but to be rude and can’t deliver good food that’s a shame. Looking at the most recent reviews people are feeling the same. Good luck to the new...
Read moreI've been to Captain Paul's a few times before. I really like it there: good selection, great service, good product. Unfortunately for me, it's just a bit too far for me to justify the drive for lunch or a quick snack. Well, that all changed today, thanks to my son starting swim classes with someone who teaches half a mile up the road at Lawrence High School! What better way to reward his hard work than hot dogs and ice cream for lunch? My son is a boy of simple taste, and went with the boiled dog with ketchup and mustard. I was a little more unconventional. I attempted to recreate one of my favorite dogs of all time, the Spicy Redneck from Manhattan's Crif Dogs. I asked for mine with bacon, chilli, coleslaw & jalapeños. The young man behind the counter didn't bat an eye and happily obliged. We sat ourselves down at one of the metal tables right out front while the good Captain himself got to work on our order. The dogs were delivered in short order and we dug in. The boy's dog was pretty straightforward. He was pleased with his choice and plowed through it with uncharacteristic speed. My pet project was better than anticipated. The toppings were put on in the perfect ratio where they all blended without overpowering each other. The slaw was perfect for hot dogs, not too liquidy where the bun gets soggy, but not chunky where it falls off the dog and makes a mess, either. The recreation was better than the original in my opinion. After lunch, we both had soft serve ice cream, which came in an ample cup despite being labeled a small. Total bill for lunch for two came to just about $15. Not too shabby. Captain Paul's is a restaurant that is greater than the sum of its parts. They're not reinventing the wheel here: hot dogs with good toppings that they'll fully customize for you, a few fried sides, some simple sandwiches and frozen treats. What sets this place apart is Captain Paul himself, along with his family & employees. They are completely customer driven and clearly truly appreciate your business. I suggest that you...
Read moreI would have overlooked the stale buns, cold hot dog,and disgusting onions with no flavor because the young girls at the counter we're very nice. Then I ordered swirl ice cream with chocolate crunchies. As soon as I looked at it,I knew it wouldn't be good cause it almost looked wet( from being so greasy) and when I ate it,the crunchies tasted terrible. As everyone know chocolate crunchies are just crushed up chocolate Oreo type cookies(without filling). It seems they bought a cheap brand of crunchies. I express to the young girl that I really didn't like the crunchies if she could just switch it for just a plain swirl ice cream and the young girl had a very good customer service she was like "sure". However I guess when she mentioned it to the older women that was there, I'm not sure if that's the owner. The older woman came to me with a very nasty attitude and threw a small cup of chocolate crunchies on the table and said "these are not greasy or stale "and walk back very angry. It was absolutely ridiculous.IfI'm paying for an ice cream and if I don't like it I should have the right to exchange it and not get an attitude from this older woman me myself owning a business "the customer is always right". So being that the food is of such low quality at this place I would recommend for that woman to have better customer service. And buy better quality hot dogs. I don't understand how a place that prides themself and having all types of hot dogs can have such a low quality hot dog. These people have no integrity in their food and I will never be going there again and I will be telling everyone of...
