The best part of retail is customer service and the worst is not getting any. I recently went into our local Five Below store with my granddaughter because she wanted to get a toy. While I was shopping for something for her I noticed a display of folding chairs for outdoor use. I walked over and saw they came in different colors and they were tagged at $5. I thought this is great. I will pick one up and put it in the back of my car for when I see my granddaughter play soccer. We also found a toy that my granddaughter liked. I went to register and rang it up and paid and then I noticed when the receipt was printed the chair rang up at $7. I thought that’s odd as all the chairs were tagged as $5. I looked for an associate and there was not one on the floor. I noticed a gentleman and asked if he could help me and he said I don’t work here but he was also looking for someone that does. Apparently both employees were in the stock room. One finally came out after about 5 minutes and the other gentleman asked his question and then I explained what happened with my issue. The response I got was they are $7. I explained to him that I had been in retail for many years and when something is ticketed at $5 they cannot ring it up at $7. He said I have to get the other gentleman out to explain to you. The other gentleman came out with an attitude like I had disturbed him. I explained to him my situation and his answer was “my regional supervisor” told me they were $7. I proceeded to explain to him the same explanation I gave to the other associate and he said to me, Listen I don’t need you to keep telling me they should ring up at $5. I excused myself from the store because I wasn’t going to be harassed and my intelligence insulted as I know pricing policy having been in the retail sector. I called customer service and they are going to refund the $2 which at this point I could care less about. The sad part about this is that it’s left a bad taste to go back into that store again. As I explained to the customer service rep that in that retail shopping complex we have a Dollar Store, an Ollies and a Burlington all which I can go into and get almost anything I need of which I will going forward. Customer Service is the backbone of any organization and I certainly wasn’t getting any customer service in that store. When that store opened that store had amazing associates. That has since gone away on my last few visits...
