China Wok — Restaurant in Lawrence

Ordered from here to try and switch things up from my normal chinese spot... not great experience. Was told 10 mins for pickup, food wasn't ready when I arrived - usually that's fine with me except I didn't end up getting my food for 45 mins. Woman at the counter was very busy with orders so I do understand it gets crazy... but I had to go up finally and ask where my order is at... she had it sitting at the counter for at least 5 mins, maybe 10 mins. Again, would have probably been fine except for probably 10 different people ahead of me, she would look at the order up next then shout out for the customer that it was ready to go... except for whatever reason she did not for mine. She looked at my order probably 3 separate times and did nothing. I assumed it was because it wasn't ready, but obviously found out otherwise. Thankfully I asked otherwise my order would have sat for awhile. Food is pretty good, but man that was just a painful service experience. Might give it one more try but disappointed in...

Will not be ordering here for delivery again. Placed an order right when they opened at 10:30, telling us it would be ready in 40 minutes. Received no calls from them again concerning the order. We called back at 11:45 inquiring about the order. The person working the phone told us the driver was on his way. We called again 15 minutes later inquiring again. The same person told us he should be there in a few minutes and hung up the phone on us. He pulled in with our food at 12:05. This type of poor delivery service has happened on multiple occasions. The food, while not poor, is just average, so I am not craving their particular food to place for order. We will be looking for a better option for our lunches...

If you live on the east side of Indianapolis or Lawrence, this IS the place for Chinese food. They are one of the few Chinese restaurants that serve Mei Fun (white noddles) and Orange Beef. I was a big Orange Chicken fan until we tried the Orange Beef. The food is cooked fast, served hot and always with a smile. If you a regular, she always remembers what you ordered from the past, which in itself is pretty amazing. We have never been disappointed and the food is excellent as left overs. We usually get about $35 to $40 worth, gets us through for 2 1/2 days (weekend actually.)
