I enjoy Jamaican food and I hate not giving 5 stars to companies that deserve it. I thought long and hard about this decision because I visited this location twice before I reviewed it to make sure I was accurate. My first visit was great , the owner was nice and interested in the new business and the food was great .If i had reviewed my visit that day it would have been 5 stars , but like the old saying say double back and you'll get different results. I went back the 2nd time and I would have given my visit half a star.I was over looked and ignored by the lady taking my order because she was talking with another customer about if she was pregnant or not. (Not the actual pregnant employee)There was no kind of interactions with me and after getting my order taken my food was ready in abour 4 minutes. I ordered goat with extra goat and it was a plate full of bones and bones with very few pieces of shreaded goat and sauce that gave me the illusion that I had got what I paid for . ,there was hardly any goat on the plate .Sadly this is the problem not only at this Jamican resturant but 100s all over the usa. When it comes to these plates of goat or oxtails its very little meat and alot of bones, which is not right because the meat is what I am paying for not the rice or the sides. I wasnt pleased with my overall results but I dont want to take away credit from the owner and his business. Its a clean location, the mac and cheese is amazing , the music is nice. I would recommend it to a friend , with the caution of speaking up if their meat is not acceptable but I wouldn't triple back there because of...
Read moreWhere the food lacks the atmosphere and service make up for it. When we arrived, they were no customers there and only one staff member. Therefore, there's no way the food was cooked fresh. I believe it may have been cooked earlier that day or before. I ordered the oxtails and potato salad (which is warm mayo based 🤮) with a rum cake. My friend had oxtails as well. We ordered the appetizer which consisted of smoked jerk wings, a beef patty, and coconut shrimp. Jerk sauce and pina colada sauce.
All of our food was microwaved as reheated to temperature. I know this because the food was very hot in the center...scorching. Potato salad was absolutely absolutely disgusting. The oxtails were okay but fork tender. The rice that came with oxtails was wet and not dried out.
The appetizer, has the same commercial or big box store coconut shrimp that you can get from Sam's Club or Costco. The Pina Colada sauce is simply reduced pina colada drink mix. The beef patty was surprisingly delicious, just very thin.
The rum cake was okay. I was expecting more rum flavor. However, it just reminded me of plain spice cake.
Graham and his wife are great owners and took care of us.💯❤️ Overall, if everything was freshly made, the rating would be higher. Despite all this, I'd still...

Graham, the owner of this restaurant is the true definition of a Business owner that stands behind his product and his promise to consumers. We coordinated a meeting regarding my initial review. He was receptive to my feedback and extremely genuine. He replace my meal at no charge and EVEN let me sample other menu Items I had never tried! Needless to say, I stand by Blue Lagoon and will be a consumer for life. Customer Service, Atmosphere still 10/10 and I can honestly say I came in on an off day. I wish you the best in your business and your integrity is rare in this age of businesses!
I have been going to Blue Lagoon on and off for the past 2 years, and the food has gotten more and more disappointing with every visit. I usually get the oxtail dinner and it seems the portions keep getting smaller which is sad. I honestly don’t believe they follow a recipe cause the food tastes like a different recipe each time. I ordered a six pc plantain, they were burnt and rubbery a horrible texture. The Jerk wings are not whole wings but bbq party wings Not a jerk insight, at least it doesn’t taste like authentic jerk AT ALL. For $42, I’m pissed honestly. Just go to Yaso’s Jamaican Grill if you want...
