Set Em Up Jack's — Restaurant in Lawrence

Update top my earlier review. Again, it has been a little while since we stopped into "Jacks" for dinner, we were promptly and pleasantly greeted and seated (it was a little past busy time) and we felt comfortable. Our server Kylee was very friendly, efficient and professional. I am sure that she had a smiling face under the mask! We are so over the masks.... Anyway, even though we both wanted the catfish and we were informed that they were out for the night, our meal was very good! My steak was cooked just right and full of flavor and Crystal's wings were great, although, she does not recommend the Cajun seasoning.... as a born and raised S. Louisiana cajun, she did not taste "home" at all. But, the quality of the chicken and the cook were great! The atmosphere was also very good, even with different games playing on all of the different monitors, my wife and I could still have a comfortable conversation without having to yell at each other! Thank you Kylee and Set 'em up Jacks for yet another good dining experience!

My experience at this restaurant was always meh and kind of disappointing. More than once I have found hair in my food or the food was way too salty. The burgers are good but that’s about it, the rest is far too salty or dryer than the Sahara Desert. The tall slender manager wears way too much cologne that as he walks by it assaults your lungs. I have asthma and I always know when he’s near by because I begin to have a reaction. I can always hear the manager yelling at his workers in the back making it an uncomfortable dining experience. On a couple occasions I witnessed some inappropriate remarks from him to his employees that probably should not be said in earshot of customers. Silverware is not always clean and still has food residue on them. You would think that this place would be run better with 4 stars but I guess not. I ordered a paddy melt well done with the onions cooked as well they had barely touched the flat top and the burger was cooked to medium. For a place that offers burgers as a special I thought they might be pretty good. Boy was I wrong! I had been recommended to this place for there food because I was dinning out of town. Food was so bad the bartender wanted to removed the food from the bill. She was nice but didn't seem very concerned as to the crapy food I received. I sat at the bar and as a 6ft 3in fella I had a hard time feeling comfortable while eating at the bar, stools were very short compared to the bar height. Beer was cold and at a good price for a special $4 for a big beer. I assume they normally do better considering the recommendation I got from the car dealership I was visiting but I will not be going back. Sorry Set'em up Jack's but you guy's failed to set me up...
