The wife and I stopped here on July 15th to have some dinner. We enjoy supporting new local restaurants. We got there around 6:30 PM. There weren't many cars in the parking lot. That should have been our 1st warning. I don't know of any Mexican restaurant that's not busy on a Friday night. When we got inside, we were greeted immediately and seated immediately. Customer service was wonderful. We ordered appetizers and ordered drinks. My wife ordered a Margarita and I ordered a beer on draft. This location does not have any beer on draft! Not sure you can be a bar-and-grill without any draft beer. I just went ahead and ordered an iced tea. We also ordered an appetizer - queso 3-way. That's supposed to be with chicken steak and shrimp. The picture on the menu looked beautiful, but what arrived to our table was a mess. In the picture there were large pieces of steak, chicken, and whole shrimp. What we received was a bowl of runny goo with chopped up pieces of chicken, steak, and shrimp...and the shrimp smelled fishy. The cheese itself was pretty bad, it was almost like water. It was still runny 20 minutes later when they took it away. We ordered fajitas for 2 with steak, shrimp, and chicken. What we got was far from fajitas for two. The platter consisted of a thin piece of steak ,1/2 of a chicken breast -butterflied … along with 3, yes 3 shrimp. The waiter did come back about 10 minutes later to give us 5 more shrimp. I guess he realized that the shrimp count was a little lacking. In addition there was maybe 1/4 of green pepper and 1/4 an onion chopped up on it ...with a few red peppers sprinkled in. Aren't green peppers and onions the cheapest vegetables you can purchase? I don't know how they called this fajitas for two. I've been to many of the Mexican restaurants where the fajitas for 2 was piled high and falling off the plate… even during the pandemic. The steak was seasoned well, but the chicken and the shrimp were beyond bland. Also, the green peppers and onions didn't have any taste either, except for maybe the char from the plate. I realize that prices have increased, but there may have been enough for one...maybe 1.5. I gave it 2 stars because of the customer service, but I would not recommend this location. I guess there's a reason why the parking lot was so empty on a...
Read more#vegetarian. At first glance, Lolita's Bar and Grill may look unassuming from the street, but don't let the exterior fool you--this place is absolutely worth a try.
I had no idea who owned it before walking in (though I later read it's run by a mother and daughters team), but as soon as I stepped inside, I could feel the care and pride that's clearly been poured into this space. The interior is clean, colorful, and welcoming--everything from the decor to the spotless bathrooms signals that cleanliness and presentation matter here.
I stopped in around 1 PM on a weekday and found a calm, relaxed atmosphere with three other tables of customers. There was one server on duty who managed the space well--attentive without being intrusive. She brought out complimentary blue tortilla chips and salsa. While the chips weren't fresh-made, they were decent--especially considering they're free.
For my meal, I ordered the Veggie Fajitas with corn tortillas. The vegetables were well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. Both the rice and beans had great flavor. The only real downside? The portion of refried beans was tiny--maybe two tablespoons at most. When I asked about it, the server mentioned it was due to "portion control," though that reasoning felt a bit unclear. She also said that their refried beans and black beans are vegetarian (which is unusual - most restaurants the refried beans are not).
All in all, despite the just-okay chips and the skimpy bean portion, Lolita's delivered where it matters: flavor, cleanliness, and service. With a few small tweaks, it could easily be a 20 out of 10. If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine, definitely go give them your support. Local gems like this deserve to...
Read moreProbably one of the worst dining experiences I've had in the past 10 years...first my family of 4 walked in around 6pm on a saturday night. We stood at the front for about 3-4 mins without any greeting. Finally someone came to greet and seat us. We ordered drinks and got our chips and salsa along with cheese dip for the kids. We got our drinks and chips in a reasonable time and then ordered our meals. Kids picked the cheese pizza and cheese quesadilla, my wife ordered the chicken quesadilla and I ordered the steak fajitas. The food came out quick but there's a reason for that. Kids pizza had 2 pounds of cheese and grease on top with a strange pizza crust made of tortilla and bread??? Cheese quesdilla looked fair...my kid didn't complain. However, the chicken quesadilla came with a soggy tortilla and another 2 pounds of cheese yuck 🤮 😫 I dive into my meal only to find out that the peppers and onions for my fajitas are still raw 🙃 then go to eat my rice only to find green beans, peas, carrots, and onions in it 👀 SORRY but that's NOT Mexican rice. I grew up in Colorado and New Mexico and it was definitely Asian fried rice that was served to us. Didn't even have a Mexican rice flavor. Along with it all, I ordered corn tortillas only to be served store bought corn tortillas. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that DIDN'T make their own corn tortillas in house. It's literally cheaper to make them than buy them. We ended up speaking with the manager and she didn't make us pay for our meal but I did let her know that it'll be a while before I return. Hopefully they can fix these things because I did enjoy the location/server/manager. Staff was...
