The owner is very rude; just when I was thinking she was a nice, sweet little lady. I was simply calling to let her know how I felt about the food I purchased the night before. I know it was close to the store's closing, so I felt like the order was rushed. Instead, just let me know this can't be prepared since we will be closing soon. If it was going to be rushed. So I gave her a call the next day, when it was convenient for me, to inform her of how I felt. She states to me If you already ate the food, why are you calling me now. She doesn't know if it was eaten or thrown away. My purpose for calling was to inform her of how I felt about my food this time. I usually come and patronize this establishment at least every other week. Spend money when I come because I am usually purchasing for my family. This particular time, it was just for me. Maybe that's why she didn't care, because I didn't spend much this time.
I was not calling to bash her, the business, or anything about the location or the food. Simply called to state to her that the soup did not taste the same as the soup ordered before. I realize there is only one soup of the kind I purchased. This is more of the reason why it should taste the same as before. Not asking for money back or more food, just simply wanted her to know, as a loyal customer, that I was a little disappointed this time in the soup, and it was not up to the standards she usually holds. I see she does not care since I guess she figures she will have more people to come in, so my dollars don't matter. What I do know matters is that it's all about who you know. You should always treat people good, no matter how you may not always agree about something. She was so upset she yelled at me, telling me she doesn't care what I do and she doesn't know why I'm calling her, telling me this before hanging up on me. The rudesness and the nonchalant attitude. It's ok by me too because I always have remedies for locations like these, no matter how long they've been in business. Treat people right, you never know who you are dealing with. Even if they look like some normal individual to you. The yelling and rudeness were definitely...
Read moreI was searching for some Chinese food that was along my route home and chanced upon Soho. I decided to stop by. Fantastic decision on my part!
The location next to Kohls in a non-descript shopping center is the only downside. I frequently visit the Walmart nearby and I had no idea this place was even here! I always order a smattering of my favorite dishes when I first try a place so I can get a quick idea of the menu.
In this case, I ordered boneless ribs(which not every Chinese place even offers, so that is a huge plus), Wonton soup, Crab Rangoon, pork fried rice, and eggroll. Everything was, no lie, the best Chinese food I've had in years!
I've got 2 local Chinese places I've been going to, and Soho blows both of them away! The Crab Rangoon has a smooth, creamy filling with the perfect crispness to the dough. Also, they shape it in a triangle. Other places shape it like a money sack tied at the top, which causes too much over fried dough that crumbles when eating it, and not enough filling. I love this arrangement!
The Wonton soup has dumplings filling the wontons(not every Chinese place does this either, giving you just the wonton noodles and no filling, which I don't like). The eggroll was great! It was crispy fried perfectly, with a good assortment of fillers, and didn't come apart when I was eating it.
The boneless ribs were soft and moist, and the sauce was fantastic! The fried rice had big pieces of fluffy egg(can't remember the last time I experienced that!) and perfectly cooked rice. They also give you a choice when ordering a combo, of plain fried rice, or fried rice with pork shrimp or chicken added in. This is a first for me, as most places only give you plain fried rice for the side. I like pork fried rice, so I am usually forced to order pork fried rice as a meal to act as my "side".
All in, again, no lie, the best Chinese food I've had in as long as I can remember! I must return soon to try some more of my favorites!...
Read moreThis is an AMAZING little restaurant! It's family owned and they are super sweet and talented! My family and I have been eating here for several months now and the quality is consistently top tier! The owner Kiki is one of the most wonderful people we've ever met in business or otherwise. She's so kind I could cry. She truly cares about the happiness of her customers when we dine there and never skimps on the quality of her food. Everything always tastes so very fresh!
Soho has a big menu of Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food and every item we've tried here from these cuisines has always been delicious. I've actually eaten here 4 times in a week just because of the variety and how much everyone loves the food for lunch and dinner. Great diet options as well.
They keep the entire restaurant incredibly clean, even the restroom! Wonderful to eat inside the dining room with the beautiful decor. Always comfy temperature, clean smelling air, and hand sanitizer and napkins stocked at every table.
I could recommend everything here, but I will pick some favorites: honey garlic wings, braised wings, thai tea, steamed dumplings, philly cheesteak eggrolls (yum!), subgum wonton soup (so much flavor), all the hibachi dishes in teriyaki sauce (amazing portions at an amazing price, but Kiki advises that the steak particularly is best eaten at the restaurant so it does not steam in the box), shrimp egg foo young (cooked to the perfect texture and the sauce is amazing), and the chinese donuts (so so so GOOD!).
Please visit this restaurant if you can. I'm not paid, wasn't asked or incentivized to review, and I think this is the first restaurant review I've ever left on google, but I just ordered take out and realized that I should leave one!
Kiki and her family are amazing and if you visit their restaurant please be mindful to be as kind and respectful to them as they are to everyone and please keep the space as clean as you found it....
