So last night was our first experience with Los Tres Amigos. We were seated by a young man and about 3 minutes later a lady came and dropped off chips and Salsa. 15 MINUTES later, I flagged down the young man who had originally seated us as he was seating other people and told him that no one had been by to get our drink requests or take our order. He went and found our waiter --- another young man --- who came over and told us that no one had told him we were there. He then took our drink orders --- 3 people --- one water, one Dos Equis Beer, and one Pina Colada. He brought the water and by now we had eaten ALL the chips. He brought us more chips and I asked if we could get a MILD salsa/dip. No, the answer is NO. They only have hot. BUT he brought us a bean dip (and this earned one star!). My husband asked if he could have his beer...the waiter said "they are making it now" Making it? Beer? What? so he said it was in a glass and then went and go the glass with LIME around the edges. My husband sent it back. Please GIVE customers a choice!!! ("would you like your beer in the bottle or in a glass with a lime rim?") My husband hates lime. So we order our food (BTW, not one single vegetarian or vegan option on the menu ---so I just order beans/rice/lettuce/tomatoes/guacamole. I TELL the waiter I can't have dairy so that they are extra careful). He takes our order and leaves. Still no Pina Colada. Finally, the Pina Colada arrives --- traditionally it is garnished with a pineapple wedge and a cherry --- I KNOW, I was a bartender for 4 years and have been a chef for almost 30 years --- anyhow, remember how I said I can't have dairy? So the drink arrives with whipped topping. Arrgh. I send it back just asking them to knock the whipped cream off into the sink. 8 minutes later he arrives with my drink A NEW drink. "You didn't make a whole new drink?", I ask. Of course they did. Geesh. This is now 33 minutes into us being here. We ALL finally have drinks. Two baskets of chips are gone because we were hungry. Food arrives. My beans and rice are on one plate, lettuce and guacamole on another plate. I said to my husband and friend "didn't I ask for beans and rice with lettuce and TOMATOES?" They agree that I did. I don't tell the waiter because this is just ridiculous and no one seems to be listening to us or giving us options. I eat my food. My drink is definitely non-alcoholic. I have my husband and friend try the drink...no one tastes rum. I certainly don't drink enough to be immune.. so I should feel something, I take another swallow -- no taste of rum. The waiter comes by, I ask if I misread the menu and this was a virgin drink ...he says no it has rum. I ask for the manager to come taste it. Manager shows up. She takes my drink and goes and makes me another one. Brings it back....topped with whipped cream!! I want to cry. I knock the whipped cream into one of the salsa ramekins and drink it. I taste rum. My food is ok. Nothing great. It's been a rough night. Add to this a screaming baby at the table diagonal to our booth. I just want to leave. 1 star for the bean dip, 1 star because my husband said his food was pretty good. But, overall, for the price we paid, I could have made the exact same meal at home three times....and even added the tomatoes they forgot! It's experiences like this that remind me why I prefer to make all my own food at home. However, it would be nice to be able to go out once in a while and not have it be an ordeal. This was certainly an ordeal and not a...
Read moreY'all.... my daughter graduated basic training and I told her to find a place for the family to go eat for family day. When she Googled places to eat near me and Los Tres Amigos popped up, it was like Christmas for us. We did everything but scream because we LOVE Los Tres Amigos! Lol. When we do our summer road trips we eat at the one in Temple, TX! We extend our stay in Temple or grab some on our way out of the state every single time! Lol. The one in Temple is 100 % in stars and this one is 101 % stars!! Lol. I usually get the same thing, the chicken quesadillas. On graduation day my daughter got shrimp quesadillas and I tasted it because it looked like a million bucks! And boy was it! That shrimp was seasoned so good and the cheese was to die for 🤣 I almost sent my food back and ordered that. Now fast forward to the day we were leaving. I intentionally did not eat all day because I was saving my hunger for that shrimp quesadilla 😂 We were 2 1/2 hrs late getting on the road because I had to enjoy that quesadilla right then and there. When I went in to order I couldn't remember what it was so I had to pull out the picture and show it to the people around the cash register and the sweet cashier. She was just chuckling along with me because I was so adamant about what was in the picture. 😂 Everyone around me was helpful and funny in trying to help me figure out what my daughter had gotten the day prior 🤣 It was the cutest thing. I wish we had one where we live 😔 And our waitress Christina from the day before, was a doll! She gave me some advice to think about when it comes to our babies in the military. She didn't have to oblige and give me her honest motherly opinion. She's such a sweetheart and was a wonderful host!! She explained EVERYTHING until my best friend and youngest daughter understood what they were getting, then she came back to make sure just in case. My 12 yr old said she was not expecting her to explain everything without getting an attitude. Lol. Usually when customers ask questions or "too many" questions hosts get frustrated and give short answers. My bf and my daughter said they appreciated that! You never know what invisible disabilities people may have, so I appreciate her explaining as well. She's such an awesome lady!
Eat here! You'll love it! The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff...
Read moreI always get a good feeling when entering an establishment where the staff is friendly and welcoming. All of the staff at Los Tres Amigos were friendly and helpful. This is a family owned Mexican restaurant. There was plenty of parking with multiple handicap spaces. The restaurant was clean, well lit, and at a comfortable temperature. The Mexican music is at a good volume so not to overpower conversations at the table. After the restaurant filled up, it felt crowed and the noise level was loud enough to interfere with regular conversation volume. My service experience here was excellent. Our server arrived quickly and took our drink orders. When she returned with our drinks she took our order. Right after our drinks arrived, the queso and chips arrived. The queso was warm but somewhat thin. Be careful because it’s thin enough to drip if you’re not watching. The cheesy flavor of the queso went great with the warm chips. They were sturdy enough for dipping with few breaking. Our server was very friendly and accurate with our orders. She was attentive and brought our food in a timely manner. I’m eating a chicken quesadilla and queso today. My chicken quesadilla arrived hot, filled with chicken, and cheese. I added some of the queso to provide a deeper and mixed cheese taste. The quesadilla was folded in a different way than I am use to, but that allowed filling it with big chunks of chicken and covered with cheese. Part of the dish is a lettuce salad with sour cream, it sounds strange but really is not bad. It also included refried bean with Mexican rice. The beans had good flavor and texture. They cooked the rice to perfection. It was firm but not hard and not mussy. There was enough to satisfy my appetite and have enough food to take home. The mango margarita had a fantastic flavor and had a light tequila flavor but not over whelming. Our server provided to-go boxes and asked if we wanted to-go cups for our drinks. When leaving, they said goodbye as enthusiastically as when we entered. It’s was a pleasure...
