Prices were crazy, but that's to be expected. They provide seafood that isn't available anywhere else in town really. For that I am appreciative, but also let down. I was hoping for blue crab on the menu. They had it. I've been chasing the satisfaction that only a whole-fried blue crab can provide me. When I saw that among the typical lobster tail, snow and king crab legs, there it was: Blue Crab. Each choice of protein had above it an image of what was to be expected. Thick, robust legs above the king crab option and smaller, but still just as respectable legs above the snow crab. The shrimp, lobster and crawfish were all depicted the same way. The image above the "Blue Crab" option was exactly that... an image of a whole blue crab. A guest could expect that they would be receiving an order of whole blue crab... right? That was not the case. When the food was delivered to the table it was glorious. Huge king crab legs, lobster tails and piles of crawfish just as you'd expect from the menu... Imagine the disappointment that washed over me when our waitress brought my food. Before me did not sit a glorious blue crab dinner as depicted in the menu.... It was the legs of a blue crab. No where in the menu did the restaurant depict the blue crab meal as blue crab legs. In each instance of mentioning king or snow crab on that menu there was a long side it that oh so important element of the meal... LEGS! Could this entire review be shot down on the fact that I neglected to request an actual description of the food that I was ordering? Maybe... But is it so ignorant for me to have assumed that ONE of THREE options of crab; the one option that not once was listed as merely the LEGS of the crab, was infact NOT just the legs of the crab?! I don't think it is. I'm so far beyond returning to this establishment on the basis of that alone. This is the hill I will stand on and it's the hill I will die on...
The service wasn't great. We had a party of 11 so I get that attention is stretched, but I had to ask for refills not only for myself but for others in the party because they just didn't notice. It was 12 on a Thursday and we may have been one of two tables in the...
Read moreFrom one of my family members "Today, I had lunch at Seafood Party with my in-laws and husband. To begin with, their service was horrible. My father-in-law had to ask multiple times before he got a drink, the tea they originally gave my mother-in-law was awful and seemed to be the tea from the day before, and we got my daughters food at least 20 minutes after we all had gotten our food. There were multiple small inconveniences that probably could have been overlooked, but what REALLY got us was that there were 2 soldiers that had just gotten back from deployment that had finished their meal awhile before we did. They had tried to pay and one of the soldiers cards was declined. I wasn’t really sure of what was going on until the soldiers whose card was declined tried to get up to leave (I learned later to go to an ATM) and who I’m assuming was the manager got very loud and up in the other guys face because he was also trying to leave, after the other guy explained that he was just going to get cash out. The manager then proceeded to take his picture & continue to badger & belittle the soldier that he had practically barricaded in the booth. After at least 10 minutes of this behavior, my father in law went and paid their tab, but that is not the point of this rant. The point is, the lack of service and borderline lack of compassion and hospitality provided by the ownership was inadequate to say the least. This is not how we treat each other in Lawton and in this part of the country. Shame on them. I understand the owner was trying to prevent a dine and dash but there was a million different ways he could have gone about this, and to top all of this craziness off, the soldier that had went to the ATM returned shortly with money for the tab and was going to leave a good tip even without anything close to an apology from management. Although the soldier that remained detained at the restaurant had all of the reason to get upset, he kept a level head throughout the entirety of the managers despicable behavior. Kudos to him for not letting the managers little man syndrome...
Read moreI love seafood! It's not good for my cholesterol so I have to be careful because if it weren't for that I'd eat here much more than I should. This place has the freshest seafood you can get here and that's because Lawton isn't coastal of couse. I love their seafood party mild. The flavors are amazing.
I've read some of the reviews about the presentation of the Seafood parties and I'm guessing the people are shocked because they don't realize how low country boils are normally served. The plastic bag was the best part because you could take the food home and reheat it with boiling water and tossing the bag in for a few minutes. Awesome-sauce!
Authentic low country boils are boiled outside in a huge pot and scooped out with a large strainer and served in the center of the table on top of newspaper that you spread out prior.... (and everyone will just grab a portion and pull it to them and chow down. The best conversations happen over a low country boil) hence the piece of paper on their table here at this restaurant. I imagine it's their attempt at being as close to authentic as they can. (I think they may have had a wonderful experience in the Seaport and are trying to repeat the experience. And I'm so glad about it) For the fact that we're not coastal I can except the fact that the seafood isn't super fresh but it is delicious none the less. There was another great seafood place in Lawton but they closed and put something else in its place, I hope this place stays open, otherwise I'd have to make the trip to OKC to eat at Pier 88.
I tried the fried shrimp before but I didn't like it so I'll just stick with what they do best and that's their version of a Low...
