Barcenas on Marina Bay Dr in League City is a wonderful place to dine in or get food to go. The staff is so nice & attentive. The food is really good as well as the prices. I live near the Barcenas in La Marque & generally visit that location which is also great. I visit my daughter near the Marina Bay / League City location & dine in that location a lot as well. There's so much to choose from on the regular menu & plenty happy hour meals & drinks to choose from as well. The Marina Bay / League City location has a much larger alcohol drink menu with some great sounding drinks. Either way you can't go wrong with Barcenas. I love their ground beef enchiladas & the charro beans. Their nachos with chorizo are also good. I sometimes have them mix the chorizo with ground beef. Their beef, chicken & shrimp fajitas are off the chain. The meat is so tender. The burrito Chris & the burrito Texano are great options as well as the beef & chicken mixed Quesadillas. Barcenas is a restaurant that everyone needs to try more than once. Both locations have comfortable outdoor...
Read moreOh my, this may but a bit wordy, but there a lot to say here. First of all my waiter was Johan. A very pleasant fella with a million dollar smile (beware ladies). So I ordered my usual safe plate (dairy allergy) of ground beef soft tacos. It arrived promptly and there was nothing but plate left when I was done. A few details. The flour tortillas were small but perfect. You don’t get your hands all mussed up trying to wrangle an oversized soft taco. The tacos were grilled and just slightly crispy, but still soft, nice touch. The beef was cooked thoroughly and not over seasoned. They give you three which is perfect. Okay quick note on the rice and beans. Instead of a spoonful of rice they form it into a perfect mound. It looked dry until I tasted it. Very moist and tasty. The refried beans were the perfect consistency and they didn’t dry out and stick to plate. If licking the plate was appropriate…… Ok the salsa, my only complaint, the bowls...
Read moreWas in town for a conference and had a nice lunch here. I had a previously poor experience a couple days earlier at another Mexican restaurant nearby. Although pricier than I am used to, the food was very good. And, the service was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the birria enchiladas, but asked to substitute the "super hot jalapeño sauce" to top the enchiladas. Smart move. Although it wasn't "super hot" at all,it did have a fair kick which complimented the dish well. You get two decent salsas with your chips (but they're in ridiculously small ramekins). The portion was too large for me to finish. Pro tip: make the enchilada plates only 2 enchiladas without such a large heap of rice, and drop the price point from 18 bucks -- NO ONE should pay $18 for good...
