Marble Slab Creamery — Restaurant in Leander

I usually don’t leave bad reviews, but I write this in hopes that this place will take note and do better.

We tried this place because it’s pretty close to where we live and some folks on social media recommended it. I was severely disappointed on multiple fronts. When we walked in, nobody bothered to greet us or make us feel welcome. They were not busy, at all. Nobody bothered to ask if they could help us or answer any questions. When we approached the counter, the staff just stared at us, didn’t even say “how can I help” or “what can I get for you”. Nothing, just stared at us, waiting for us to order. So we ordered and paid, and they got to work on the order. My wife got her small order of ice cream in a few minutes, but it took like 10 minutes, to get the milkshake I ordered. Once again, it was not busy. When I got it, it was literally like drinking flavored milk. Not thick, or creamy, but runny flavored milk. Not good. Staff had pretty much disappeared to the back or wherever they went to, so we left. We were not thanked for coming in or made to feel welcomed in the least. Unfortunately it was just poor service all the way around.and VERY expensive for what we got. Nearly $20 for a small ice cream and a runny milkshake.

This could have been an isolated incident, and my wife liked her ice cream, so I’m not going to rate 1 star, but we likely...

Took my son there this afternoon. Upon arriving, I was informed that we were allowed one sample of the ice cream per customer, and that killed the deal for me. I don't regularly go out for ice cream, and have never been to this location, but I'm certainly not going back. The decision was a cheap business move and it lost my business because they saved 10 cents on a sample or two, but it also meant I decided not to risk getting something I wouldn't like.

So a customer walks in and they had a chance to double their average sales price (because I let my son get ice cream still), didn't happen because they wanted to save a quarter, and I'll not be returning.

Also, in a time of Covid, no employees were wearing masks as well which I found surprising in a food establishment.

Every response from the owner is copied and pasted from one review to the next, with no acknowledgement of what is said. That's the way it goes.

(PS the gummy bears were stale and not fit as a mix-in. So off to...

After reading the other reviews I was worried a little bit decided to give it a try. We got there about 7:45pm and there were 2 staff, neither were lively or upbeat but being at work later on a Sunday I didn't expected too much. Only one table inside, I guess due to 'rona still, so we had to eat outside on a bench. No big deal.

The trash can outside was overflowing with ice cream cups and a couple were on ground. My son went to take out trash in so we didn't add to the mess outside and the door was locked (8:05pm). I purposely checked (because of the reviews regarding closing early) Google before we went and it shows 9pm. It should probably be a 3 star but I bumped it to 4 due to good ice cream which is what we went there for. If they didn't close early and a little "more chipper" staff it would have been a 5 star.
