Don’t bother. The only worse than the bland food was the service.
This was the short nicer version. Since I was asked by the owner. here is the long version.
I ordered the eggs, Benedict. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor and was somehow greasy and had what I hope was some form of starch to thicken it in chunks. The English muffin was not even toasted. They use ham not Canadian bacon and the only part of this meal that was correct was the eggs. My wife had the corn beef hash. This looked like it had been thrown right from the can onto the plate. I don't have a problem with canned corned beef, but serving it so raw is a problem. My daughter who is 3 and never met a pancake she didn't like kept saying she was full and wouldn't eat. So I tried it, and it was undercooked and probably one of the worst pancakes I have eaten. Both my wife and daughter left half their meal on their plate and I honestly can't say enough bad things about the meal but I think you get the idea. When everyone at the table orders their favorite breakfast and won't finish it there is a problem.
As for the service. While we were waiting for a seat we were waiting for a seat the lady working the grill was joking about how long it has been since she cooked. She made a comment something like look how bad these pancakes are then she put them out for the waitstaff to take. The waitress was short with us and looked like she would have wrath been anywhere else. She never got around to bring the water my wife ordered so in short, the staff was unprofessional and rude. So no we didn't bother reporting that the staff was unprofessional to the staff. It was not worth our time or theirs.
In my mind, you can have rude staff or bad food not both and this place clearly had both. Yes, the place was busy and I am still in shock about that. I hope that...
Read moreService was slow but very good. My eggs were so under cooked, they had to be eaten with a spoon because it was way too watery (I ordered them over easy.) I left the entire meal behind untouched but still offered to pay for it. The waitress refused to take my money as I didn't eat my meal. I left her a tip on my table anyway (she did do her job and served me, she deserved it.) They don't offer toast and homefries unless with an omlette. I have been to hundreds (if not more) breakfast places and never have I been to a place that doesn't serve toast and homefries with a meal. I may have caught them on an off day. I'll give them another chance sometime when I go back to visit, but it will definitely not be the next time.
You have a good business and location there. The place was packed with people waiting at the door. That must speak for something. The kitchen is the most important part of your business, you have to pay close attention to the food going onto the plates (bad days do happen, understandable.) Toast and potatoes are cheap enough to not incorporate them into all the meals. I hope to update this post with a better...
Read moreWe work nights, so it’s been challenging to find late night/early morning spots for cravings. One Sunday, we were so happy to find Shyrl’s Diner opens at 5am and decided to drive down and give it a try. We were kicking ourselves for not finding out about this well-kept treasure sooner! They had ample free parking beside the building. As soon as we entered the diner, we were immediately greeted and felt at home with yummy smells reminiscent of grandma’s kitchen. The atmosphere was very cozy and the locals that dined early are on first-name basis with Shyrl and Deb.
We ordered the biscuit and sausage gravy special and corned beef hash with eggs, which were both so yummy and hit the spot! The portions are huge to just right if you’ve missed a meal or two. I highly recommend choosing one of their freshly baked bread (white or wheat), which comes out perfectly toasted and buttered. We also loved the hot and crispy tots.
We felt very taken care of during our visit and would definitely return in the future! Thanks Shyrl and Deb for making us...
