If you're in search of authentic Haitian and Jamaican cuisine, The Karibbean is a must-visit spot. I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it was an experience worth sharing.
I ordered the Goat Curry, which was served with a side of rice and beans and their signature Karibbean slaw. The curry goat was flavorful and tender, truly a standout dish. The Karibbean slaw had a nice mild kick, which I enjoyed, but if you’re someone who isn’t keen on spicy food, I’d recommend letting them know when you order. For those who love a bit of heat, it’s perfect.
For my sides, I had the fried plantains and veggie patties. Both were delicious and well-prepared, complementing the main dish wonderfully. To wash it all down, I opted for mango juice, which was refreshing and sweet, exactly what I needed to balance the spices in the meal.
Dessert was the Haitian brittle, a coconut treat that was just the right amount of sweet to finish off the meal. Unfortunately, I was too full to try it right away and had to save it for later, along with the veggie patties. The portion sizes are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth.
The ambiance at The Karibbean is warm and inviting, with a vibrant Caribbean feel that makes you want to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. The service was excellent—attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience.
I had the chance to chat with the chef, a wonderful Haitian gentleman, and it was a highlight for me. Anytime I get to speak French, I’m thrilled, and it was a pleasure to hear about his passion for bringing authentic Caribbean flavors to the community.
Overall, The Karibbean is a gem for anyone looking to explore Caribbean cuisine. Whether you’re there for the food, the ambiance, or the friendly service, you won’t be disappointed. Just be prepared to leave...
Read moreMy wife picked up an order of jerk chicken and curry, as well as a beef patty. Everything is authentic and tastes on point. The beef patty was a tasty little appetizer. The jerk chicken is absolutely some of the most tender and moist I’ve ever had. Whoever said it was dry is full of it. It had a nice subtle heat that was pleasant and not overbearing. The curry was also super delicious and tender. The rice and beans are amazing, you could just eat those by themselves. Most dishes also come with some plantains and nice vinegar-y slaw which balances everything out. Overall, outstanding Jamaican/Haitian food, can’t wait to try something...
Read moreExcellent tasting food served by a passionate, enthusiastic chef. The spartan interior let's you know the focus is on the food. We tried the fish patties made fresh that day with a wonderful homemade flaky pastry and delicious salty, savory fish filling. Griot (Haitian pork) was rich and fatty balanced perfectly by acidic pikliz (pickled cabbage slaw) and complemented by sweet plantain. Jerk pork was deeply flavorful with slight heat and a delicate smokiness from the grill. Both perfectly moist and served with rice and beans....
