Very similar to Long John Silver's, the other fast food seafood restaurant. One nice thing here is that they serve the food on real, washable, dinner platters with real silverware rather than throwaway plastic ones. Their 'napkins' are actually rolls of paper towels so no tree saving going on there. But I suppose the real dinnerware helps make up for that.
The menu offers a few senior specials and take coupons which never really seem to expire or maybe that's just that nobody checks the tiny little expiration dates on them. They have a few healthier offerings such as grilled/baked rather than fried fish or seafood, and steamed broccoli and rice rather than french fries. Other than that it's the standard fast food fish meals with a few other options thrown in for non fish eaters. They do have chicken on the menu, but why bother going to a fish restaurant if you only like meat and poultry. The coleslaw is good, very creamy. It's a regular side, along with two hush puppies and fries. There are a few other sides to choose from plus the premium (higher priced) sides. Desserts offered tend to run as pre-packaged slices of pie or maybe cheesecake.
Painting and remodeling was done a couple years ago whch gave the place a freaher look, but still nautical in general, as would be expected. The dining area has both tables and booths available.
Near the counter, where you order, is a long bench where you can sit to wait for your take-out order to be ready if you are not eating in. If they are busy and your wait will be a little longer they hand out the light-up buzzers to notify you that your order is ready or they will bring it to your table if they are not too busy.
One nice thing if you go in to order your take-out rather than go through the drive-up, they always open the food containers to verify that what you are taking out is actually what you really ordered. That's a nce touch, cause I hate getting home with something wrong in my...
Read moreI went in for takeout because there speaker in drive through isn’t the greatest and I wanted to make sure my order was correct. There was no one else inside so the wait wasn’t horrible only a couple minutes. The front lady was cleaning when we walked in. The manager on duty wasn’t very professional we heard all about how she wanted to leave. Encouraging one of the two others to leave so she would be forced to close. To me that’s not something your customers should hear while waiting on their order to be filled. Then apparently there was a mess up with DoorDash orders. Yep we heard all about it. Well some advice to fix that problem ask the dasher to see the name on the order they will show it so next time the right people get there food. Our food took awhile but it was actually well made and we have no complaints about the food. The manager clearly needs to have a better attitude and instead of saying how bad she wants to leave and go home encouraging your employees that they are doing a great job and keep the hard work up would of been better. Also they got busier while we waited on our order and what did the manager do go do dishes instead of helping the front girl or the one lady who was cooking that was overwhelmed...
Read moreUpon visiting a highly recommended restaurant for the first time, I was disappointed to find it in a state of disarray. The exterior was unkempt and dirty, making a poor first impression. The order screen was nearly obscured by oxidized plexiglass, and the speaker was so outdated that understanding the employee on the other end was an exercise in frustration.
I decided to try the $5.99 meal deal, which unfortunately didn’t include a drink, and was shocked by the tiny portion size. For less money, you could get a much larger meal at McDonald’s. When my food finally arrived, the fries were cold, the hush puppies were excessively greasy and oddly hard, and the shrimp was deep-fried to the point of being nearly inedible. The two pieces of fish were bland and lacked any seasoning, leaving only a greasy aftertaste.
I requested ketchup and tartar sauce but received neither. I can confidently say I won’t be returning; this restaurant simply isn’t worth the visit. The whole place, from the parking lot to the walls and windows, feels neglected and dirty. It’s clear that whoever owns this establishment doesn’t prioritize quality or cleanliness and should really reconsider their responsibilities as a...
