Service was professional and effecient, though not as friendly nor as informed as one would hope based on the type/price of service. Ordered a martini and it was served to me on the rocks. No big deal, that's my fault for not specifying that I'd want it up... However, most bars assume you'd prefer your martini up unless you specify otherwise. My wife tried to order an appetizer while I'd stepped away to the restroom. Server informed her that the chef prefers to receive the tables entire order (appetizers, salads, entrees, etc) all at once. I assume this allows the kitchen to time the courses more effectively, but we found it slightly inconvenient. Appetizer was mussels and they were flavorful though slightly overcooked, giving them a rubbery texture. Overall the Mussels were good, but I probably wouldn't order them again. For entrees my wife ordered the Scallops and I ordered the venison. Her scallops were exceptional. The sides and sauces paired perfectly with the preparation of the scallops. All were flavorful and prepared to near perfection. The venison was a perfect medium-rare, as ordered. While the meat was excellent, I didn't find the sides/sauces paired nearly as well as they had one the scallops. The sauces on the venison was good, and probably would have rated higher for me, but there was simply far too much of it. Being a sweeter sauce and served generously coating the venison, it simply overpowered the venison. The wine list was extensive, though it favored whites much more heavily than reds. the list of wines available by the glass was small and pretty ordinary which left me with no great options to pair with my entree. I decided to leave the pairing choice to my server and she returned with a wine that was adequateon its own, though not a great match for the venison. We opted to skip dessert as we'd felt a bit rushed by the pace of the appetizer and entrees. Overall I felt it was a good dining experience, but not a great one. It certainly didn't feel like it matched up with the service or quality of food that we've had at other similarly priced restaurants in the...
Read moreMy husband and I just stayed here for a weekend away. I was surprised by the lack of communication regarding what to do upon arrival. Our reservation confirmation email contained a price breakdown and cancellation policy. That was it. Nothing directing us on how to check in/ out or parking. Which there is no designated parking for overnight guests (seriously?). You have to attempt to find parking on the street.. which on a weekend in a tourist area is a nightmare. After checking in we were lead up a questionable staircase to our room. Honestly, I felt mislead from the website. I was expecting a “newly designed and remodeled” room as per their website. It wasn’t anything special. I could past there was no tv (some people like that), but it would’ve been nice to have some sort refrigerator for our morning drinks. My husband wanted room one specifically for the river view. It was unfortunate that part of that view includes the top of the first floor restaurants roof. I’m also not convinced that the bed is a king size as listed. We have a king bed at home and this one was obviously smaller. Also, starting at 9p on Saturday night there was a nonstop banging noise coming from the end of the hall. It sounded like tennis balls going through a dryer. This went on for hours. The next day when it was time for us to leave we weren’t sure what to do. We were never given instructions on how to check out. So leaving the key on the counter we checked in at must be what we do? Who knows. I don’t recommend staying here. Take the money you would’ve spent on this place and go somewhere else. I wish we could’ve.
The only positive was...
Read moreStayed at the Riverside Inn a couple years ago and stayed in a King suite. Well the rooms were redone once again (not sure why) and this time we were priced out of the King suite, so booked a standard Queen room. Figured the sitting area was nice in the suite, but wasn't going to pay the price. Thinking now we are priced out of staying here again. ||Our Queen room was small. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The air conditioner unit was very quiet, but was not turned on prior too our arrival, so very warm and stuffy. The bathroom didn't have a sink and instead the sink was in the opposite corner of the room. Made it work for a couple days, but couldn't see staying longer. Our first full day it poured rain all day. This is when I thought it would be nice to have somewhere comfortable go back to the inn and relax for a bit instead of our room.||Breakfast was just continental. The last time quiche was offered, but this time quiche bites were not offered until I asked if we could order and pay for a breakfast. ||We didn't eat dinner here, but did have drinks a couple nights at the bar. Both bartenders were engaging, especially Libby. While sipping on our drinks, we were amazed at the wait staff and how efficient they seemed to be. ||Love the location, the friendliness of staff, and the quaintness, but unless less expensive the next time we travel the the area, probably will...
