Leelanau Books — Local services in Leland Township

Truly enjoyed our visit to Leelanau Books. There's a large selection with a book for every type of person. Both my children selected a book and on the way out the owner asked if they'd like her to read them a book. They agreed and the gesture was appreciated. Taking the time to read (and sing) a book is never expected, and the dedication of her precious time meant a lot to us, as parents, and also to our kids who loved the change of pace from wandering around clothing stores with us. We stopped here while in town and had a great experience. I was impressed with the book collection that they had. There were lots of books about the local areas that you would not find online or in other stores. I always spend time in the cookbook section and they had a diverse selection of cookbooks with many of the newest and popular titles available. They also had a nice selection of books about nature and the outdoors which is very fitting for the area.

Leelanau Books is a charming indie bookstore tucked into the heart of Leland—an important anchor in a town that thrives on local character. While it’s no longer my go-to spot, I’m still glad to see its doors open. The previous owners left a lasting impression with their warmth and broad selection for all ages, creating a space that felt truly welcoming. The current focus leans more toward youth offerings, which doesn’t align as much with my interests, but I wholeheartedly hope this shop remains a permanent part of Leland’s story.
