Nice little museum, Loaded with local historical items. The curator was extremely knowledgeable on local & Michigan history it was a pleasure talking with her. There was a big exhibit on the old Sugar Leaf Ski resort that was closed down years ago but big in the 1960’s There was also a very well detailed model of how the Manitou isle lighthouse base was constructed.

This museum is a true treasure for anyone interested in local history. The curator is both knowledgeable and delightful, making the experience engaging and welcoming. Exhibits are creative, well-organized, and make excellent use of the space - never feeling crowded, but always full of detail. I first visited a few years ago for the wooden boat show and was impressed then, but the museum has only gotten better since. With thoughtful displays and a clear dedication to preserving and celebrating local heritage, it’s a place worth revisiting...

Nice little museum organized well. The marine history of the area unfolds with lots of displays. I liked the back area illustrating the history of wood pleasure boats. And a great display of the history of native American basket weaving. Well...
