Chingon Taqueria Leland — Restaurant in Leland

So a friend & myself went there because we were wanting margaritas & decided to try something new instead of going to San Felipe. Boy were we crazy! NEVER AGAIN! First of all, we order a 3 chicken soft taco plate straight from the menu. The menu has a description & says the tacos come w/ lettuce, tomato, cheese, & sour cream. When the plate was brought to us it literally only had 3 small soft shell tortillas & a lil chicken on each one. No toppings AT ALL & the grilled chicken was barely seasoned. (It was chunks of chicken not shredded). I go back up to ask about the toppings & the cashier said all the toppings were on the "salsa/veggie bar". I asked "what about the sour cream?" She replied "you want sour cream?" When you order something off of a menu that shows all the toppings you should receive all the toppings unless you say "no cheese" or "No tomatoes". I stood there for a few minutes waiting for the sour cream while she finished cleaning up. When I got my sour cream it was very runny so I assume it was creme/creama (however you spell it). She was not very friendly or helpful from the start. She acted like every question we asked irritated her. My friend asked for a certain flavor for her margarita & the girl said they don't have that flavor. My friend said "it's posted w/ the rest of the flavors" & the cashier just shrugged. Anyways, food wasn't that great, service was worse, & I can guarantee we won't go there again. Oh & the queso was way to thick & not very warm. It hardened w/in minutes of receiving it. & the self serve food bar had radishes on it!! For tacos?! Items you'd expect to see weren't there & items you wouldn't expect to see were. It was...

We have been here a few times since they opened several years ago. Today we went for the last time. My husband and I came in and ordered two drinks, I ordered two tacos, and he ordered a sandwich. My husband even asked the employee if this was a good choice and he said yes. We left our tab open to be able to enjoy another drink. I was quickly served my two tacos. After about thirty minutes my husbands meal still never came. I went to check and was met with terrible attitudes from all employees. I was told we never ordered a meal for him. We decided to call it and pick something up for him on the way home. While closing out our tab in cash the employee chose to only give us part of our change in return. When I asked about the remaining change I was told they were out of change and only had dollars. If this was the case, they should only be taking credit/debit. Overall, we felt blamed for both mistakes by a new employee and left very disappointed. We did speak with a female who came when we asked for management and she met us with the same poor attitude and no accountability. The male manager on duty would not come up front. First time patrons (7/6/22) and we were quite pleased with the experience. My wife and I enjoyed our meals which were tasty and well presented. The service was friendly and courteous. The restaurant was very clean and we felt comfortable in a new place. Looking forward to our next visit.

UPDATE: My wife and I returned with a guest last week (Cinco De Mayo 5/5/23) and the experience was first rate again! Even though it was very busy (with the holiday) they did a great job handling things. We enjoyed our meals again and the service was friendly and attentive. This is the place to go for authentic Mexican food. Keep up the great work.

UPDATE: We stopped in for lunch today (8/9/24) and once again the food was very good. Since it was before noon we did not get any alcoholic beverages and purchased fountain soda instead. When my bill came I could not believe that two medium cokes cost us $8.20!! It was busy during our visit so I did not have a chance to talk to the counter person (Lopez). The price for the two sodas just stunned me. I can't believe a medium fountain soda costs $4.10.
