I placed a to-go order over the phone at 10:46am this morning. I was told it'd be ready in about 35minutes, possibly a little longer. I was okay with that. I was hoping to get in breakfast before work, and with the time they had quoted me, I would've been able to pick it up, go to work, eat, and have time to spare before having to clock in. I get there at about 11am, let them know my name, and I get told that it's not ready yet (which I figured because I had gotten there early, but was expecting to only wait about 15-20min or so).
After about half an hour, (11:30) I ask the girl at the front if I could go ahead and pay for my food before it was ready just so that I'd be able to leave as soon as I received it since I realized I was about to run a little late for work. She said she'd have to go find the server that took my order. I go back to wait. I didn't want to disturb her much because I could see they were very busy and having been both a cook and a server before, I understand stuff happens and the line gets held up. Whatever. I'm a little late at this point but my manager knows my situation (I am only able to eat one meal a day because of my medication, and it has to be breakfast, so I can't just NOT eat).
It's 11:58, and I'm half an hour late for work at this point. I have never EVER been more than 5min late for work in my life so this was stressing me a bit but again, my manager knows my situation so I knew they wouldn't be mad at me.. but still... I was waiting there for an HOUR. Which is a little ridiculous for only ONE meal and some donuts.
I go back to the girl at the front and I tell her listen, it's been an hour, I just need you to give me an estimate on when this is going to be ready so I know whether I should just leave or not. FINALLY, the employee who had taken my order came out with my food. She said that she was never even told that I was here. She apologized to me, and then also broke the news to me that they were out of donuts. Which was actually the only reason I went in the first place. If I wanted just food, I would've gone somewhere else and then went back to Eggs Up another day that I had more time to actually sit down and eat. I had wanted to get donuts to bring to work to share with my coworkers. So this had me a little upset but of course it wasn't her fault so I don't blame her.
Here's my overall view of the situation. I placed my order at 10:46am, and received my food at 12pm. As someone who works in food service, there is just no world where it is acceptable to have someone wait 1hr15min for ONE meal. However. I am willing to give grace, because this is a new place, and again, stuff happens. Maybe someone calls out, or a server delivers food to the wrong table and the kitchen has to remake the order which can cause a break in their flow. I'm sure that they're still trying to figure stuff out. (But also.. Sunday mornings in Leland are almost ALWAYS busy. There should definitely be more staff scheduled to account for this). And hey, the Baja Chicken Omelet I got was pretty good for the price I paid for it. I enjoyed it quite a bit. If this was an older establishment, this experience would've definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. However, because this place is still new and both the food and the price were appealing, I will definitely be giving this place another shot. The purpose of this review is just to alert management of the situation so that they can brainstorm ways to prevent this from happening in the future. The girl at the front did seem pretty overloaded between seating people and taking care of to-go orders, maybe having 2 people responsible for this instead of 1 during their busier hours would be a good idea. Whatever the case is, I am willing to give Eggs Up another try one day, and if my experience has bettered then, I will take this review down. And hey, if they're hiring, I am very open to working there myself as I am confident in my ability to work both FOH and BOH. Much love (still sad about no donuts...

Read morei want to start this review by saying i am a waitress at a brunch restaurant and i can understand that weekends can be stressful. however what we experience was blatant BAD service. My party and I came on a sunday afternoon, it seemed a little busy and we were given a 20-30 min wait. pretty standard for sunday. we got called and we were sat and told someone would be with us in a moment. that moment turned into 10-15 min until someone came and got our drinks; this was only after i notified someone working that we had not been helped. Megan was our waitress, after getting our drinks she took our order. During the time while we waited on our food, we sat with empty drinks for 5-10 minutes, we saw her helping another table, and she walked past and completely ignored our table. we had to wave her down to ask for refills. about 30-45 minutes later we got our food. i was highly underwhelmed by my food. i got the chicken fried steak plate, i was expecting a decent sized portion considering its a little more pricey than other things on the menu. to my surprise, it was a fried hamburger patty, i asked for my eggs scrambled, they were scrambled VERY soft, not at all what i asked for. while we ate, we needed our waitress many times, and we either could not find her; or she would make eye contact with us and continue to not come by our table to check on us. Overall, the food was alright for what it was, but the service i cannot look past. it was lazy serving, and avoidance. Really sad to leave this review since this was my first time eating at Eggs Up Grill. speaking on my behalf, not my parties, but i’m not too sure i will be returning after my experience today. and after speaking to them, i don’t think they...
