Haven't been here in years after the owner served me filthy teacups that were wet and when I wiped them out my white napkin became Brown. I was the only customer and that was the owner serving me. So we tried again, hoping things have changed. They seem like they are understaffed, but they are friendly. Unfortunately they don't know how to take your plates away, and they drop off the bill while you're still eating. This isn't a truck stop but it is a common problem in this area for wait staff. The wings were good and extremely hot, quite delicious. The soup was said to be very good, the Thai basil chicken came out with some of it cold and some of it warm. I asked them to heat it back up, put please not in the microwave because microwave on any type of meat really makes a horrible flavor. So the waitress did bring it back to the kitchen and had it warmed up, so some of it was warm and some of it was cool but not cold. When I got to the bottom of the plate I noticed it was cracked all throughout:-(. Of course the stupid news was on the TV over the sushi bar. You couldn't hear any music but you kept hearing weather alarms and a low Rumble of advertising. It's only like $5 to get a Pandora account per month and I still don't know why all these years later they haven't bothered. I guess watching violence and repulsive content on the news is much more important for these businesses around here. Personally I would prefer if you played some atmospheric music, and had picturesque scenes on your TVs or better yet get rid of the damn TV because watching TV should be something you do at home. It's really not good for your digestion to sit and watch the news, it certainly causes me to feel irritated. There was a squeaking kitchen door that sounded like a child screaming EVERY 10 seconds, somebody needs some WD-40! There were only about four tables at this time, but in and out of the door squeal squeal Screech Screech. The booths are falling apart, The pleather is picking off of the sides and the seats look like many of them are torn. So it's not very appealing, but the umbrellas are a cute touch on the ceiling. They have more of those since many years ago. Priorities 😒. Styrofoam containers for leftovers, means pollutants on the planet, and poisons in...
Read moreMy kids ask to go here for sushi at least once a week, and every once in awhile I'll surprise them by saying yes. If we could afford to eat out more I'd definitely say yes more often. The sushi has always been prepared well and tastes delicious. There is a ton of variety of sushi and sashimi to choose from.
The wait staff has been friendly each time. There was one instance my two girls and I went for some sushi, and it was taking much longer than usual to be brought out. The waitress could probably tell my youngest was getting fidgety and brought out some edamame. It was greatly appreciated and kept her distracted with eating until our food came out. With the exception of this one instance our order has always come out quickly.
My only complaint is there seems to be some kind of constant off-putting odor towards the back near and inside the restrooms. Having two young kids it's inevitable one of them will have to use the restroom while we're out, and each time 1 out of the 2 stalls (the larger handicap stall) has been locked from the inside. I'm not sure if it's broken, and that is perhaps contributing to the smell? The odor doesn't make it out into the main dining area though, and if it did I don't think it would be be something I could ignore.
I really appreciate their "buy two get one free" sushi rolls. It's an incentive to go there over other sushi options.
I haven't ordered anything other than sushi so I can't elaborate on their other food options other than to say there is a wide variety of dishes available on their menu.
If it were up to my kids we'd probably eat there at least once a week. Since it's up to my wallet we go when we're able, but that applies to eating out anywhere. I'm just grateful we don't have to drive into Wilmington when we're in the mood for, and able to...
Read moreI have eaten in the restaurant many times but it has evidently gone down hill. I placed an order today for pick up online. I order Shrimp Dumplings, Teriyaki Shrimp and Teriyaki Steak and Shrimp. I picked up my order approximately 30 minutes after I ordered it. The bag was hot and I took the server's word that everything was in the bag. When I arrived home, I did not immediately see the Shrimp Dumplings. It was not in the usual container. I called the restaurant and got Adriana on the phone. She stated that my order should be in the small styrofoam container. When I realized that it was not a salad, I advised Adriana that then I am missing one salad and one soup, which should come with the Teriyaki dinner. I was told that I could come in and pick it up. Well after traveling 10 minutes to get the dinner and then returning home, the offer to come back in and pick it up did not seem visible. I then said that you could credit my credit card and was told that it was not possible. Frustrated over the situation, I did not want to argue and stated that I would not be back to their restaurant. I then began to eat my meal, which was hot. The meal was tasteless and had no flavor. Whoever prepared the meal, did not put any seasonings in the meal. It was absolutely drab and not pleasing at all. Not sure if they changed owners or management but this is a definite...
