I've gone to Fergie's for years with my aunt, who lives across the street. It used to be a cheap little place with fast and friendly service. My aunt informed me Fergie's had changed ownership recently. We walked in and there was a brief moment where we could smell faint cigarette smoke. When I asked an older lady who came to our table why there were no prices on the menu, she snapped at me "Because it costs me $150 to change all the menus every time food prices go up!" (she could have explained it without the sass)....My aunt and spouse looked at me and said "wow, she was rude, do you want to leave?" I said no, maybe everyone asks her and she's sick of hearing it, I'll deal with it. We waited 1 hour for food. The kitchen had 1-2 people cooking and servers seemed to rotate so we couldn't figure out what took so long; there's not that many tables in there. The fried shrimp was very good, tender and not over done. I had to add extra ketchup to the cocktail sauce as the horseradish was overwhelming and made my nose burn - we eat spicy food every day but it was too much. We all tasted my aunt's spaghetti and it was OK but somewhat bland. The onion rings were swimming in grease, not crispy at all, but mushy. (wish I had taken a photo) I informed my aunt "sorry, but I'm not eating here again", she replied she wasn't either. Very expensive now for a small hole-in-the-wall type diner with no speakable decor or atmosphere, imo. Except for the older lady, all the other servers...
Read moreIf your in search of good fried chicken as we always are Fergie's is one of those places. An acquaintance of mine suggested that he thought that Fergie's had the best fried chicken than anyone and was his favorite. My wife and I are frequently commenting on just how folks should probably take into consideration that everyone has different tastes. Some may think that a particular dish is to die for and someone else could be repulsed by the same dish. So, many bars, restaurants and other establishments have fried chicken on their menus that are unknown at least to us. There just isn't any way, that I'm aware of any how, to search the internet for fried chicken on restuarant menus that doesn't give me search results for like KFC, Lee's, Popeye's and of course Hodak's, etc., by the way is one of our favorites too. Fergie's is a small tavern that has chicken on their menu and it is now on our list of go to places for chicken. We have a handful of eating establishments that has great chicken, but the sides not so much, so if your looking for good fried chicken give Fergie's a try and I doubt you will be disappointed. I also seen that Fergie's offer's brain sandwiches, I haven't had the pleasure in over 40 years. I will have to go back soon for a luncheon consisting of a...

The Handicap Parking leaves no room around the vehicles to provide easy access to the door.
The moment you open the door and the entire place reeks of cigarette smoke.
When delievering our drinks the waitress put her chest in my face and reached across the entire table to give the person next to me a drink.

The biggest issue there was a ROACH crawling up the casino machine behind me!!!! I let the waitstaff know and the reply was a casual "Sorry about that."
If it wasn't because it was where my aunt picked a celebrate her birthday dinner. I would have gotten up and walked out the minute I saw the roach.
I will...
