Waffle House — Restaurant in Lenoir City

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FOOD PREPARATION!!! Big fan of the waffle homes but was very disappointed and won’t be back to this one. It was busy but we figured it would be. We sat at the bar and got our orders in with a nice gentleman, Jacob I think. We then got to watch the cook, not wash his hands, no gloves, start touching plates after taking a sweat rag out of his back pocket to wipe his face. Payed close attention at this point and sure enough he put those nasty hands all over our hash browns, eggs and toast all the while repeatedly using said sweat rag. Jacob made our waffles so we did eat them. For entertainment, we listened to, I think her name was Mary, belittle and fuss at her coworkers. We agreed to give Jacob his cash tip directly for working hard and being friendly, as a former server I know some business split the debit/credit tip between employees so this is common practice for us. Miss Mary accepted my fiancés card while I was still finishing my waffle. When she received the singed receipt copy back, she announced to the entire restaurant that “They stiffed you Jacob” and immediately come and snatched the two plates of food we hadn’t touched off the bar and threw them in the sink. She proceeded to make comments on how we didn’t touch the food and we stiffed him so we saw ourselves out without a comment. Absolutely awful service on Mary’s part. I don’t know who the MOD was supposed to be but I sincerely hope is wasn’t this Mary(not sure if that’s her name but her name did start with a M) for the sake of everyone that works there. Unfortunately Jacob did end up without a tip due to no fault of his own. I wasn’t staying another minute being harassed like that. I would like to add that during no point during our short meal were we unpleasant or...

First off, as a past owner I/we believe in accuracy with integrity. If you can say something you can build off of, don't say anything. Mid afternoon after a rush(maybe) please when you have people waiting, choose any of the counter space or 4 booths and clear them off and get your guest seated. With seven people working somebody should have been able to clear a spot after 15 minutes of watching us watch you. Another review mentions events same time we were there. I think when even young teen girls mention what's going on before they left as it made them uncomfortable, Its time to assess the situation. With 7 workers and one manager , well you get the picture. The food was good and served very fast once we were seated, although the bacon looked like......see picture, but its tasted good I ate most of it from both orders because the visual thing and dripping grease is not my wife's thing. Our waitress was doing all she could from what I saw and heard. I think given what we witnessed first hand that place should be thankful for her. As a owner, and my managers, heck even people not on the clock anymore, and even some patrons that had been coming for years, we all covered for each other, there was no that's not my job. But like I said, the price was fair, and the food tasted good and was visually pleasing except for the bacon. Might give it another try but it will be a while before and if I do. First time I've ever walked out of a restaurant....me and my disabled in a wheelchair friend came in at 4:45pm today...and where the ONLY customers. We sat down at the lower bar and were given menus but not asked what we wanted to drink nor did the waitress introduce her self .....The waitress proceeded to stand there on her phone texting, 2 feet away from us. We told her we were ready to order and she ignored us. The cook walked up to her and asked her to get off her phone and she proceeded to argue with the cook and put them down REPEATEDLY...while slamming DIRTY silverware In front of us and telling the cook "you don't need to say it in front of the customers" but we are pretty sure the cook saw us trying to order while being BLATANTLY being ignored..and thats why they spoke up....we decided to leave and my friend told her "we cared she was on her phone"...and she just told us "okay".....I used to work at this waffle house 12 years ago and the customer service has gone WAY WAY down......I was blown away at the disrespect...and arguing in front of customers trying to order. Also the bar counter and the menus where sticky. You can definitely see why the shoneys nearly next door was super crowded and this waffle house was a ghost...
