Let me start off by saying the owner was really nice and super friendly. I had heard rave reviews about this place and talked my friends into going here for an early dinner. Unfortunately, our experience with the food was terrible. I got the deluxe salad with ranch and the Chicago style deep dish pizza. The salad was the worst I’ve ever had, huge chunks of tomato and iceberg lettuce and the ranch packets provided had gone rancid. I expected homemade ranch for a salad labeled “deluxe”. The deep dish pizza was good, lots of cheese. I didnt necessarily care for the large pieces of basil on top but that’s personal preference and could be picked off. But still not a pizza i would rave about to anyone. My friend got a salad and a taco pizza. She said her salad was disgusting and the pizza wasn’t really giving taco, too much lettuce on top and soggy crust. My friend’s boyfriend got the spaghetti, which was just a bunch of watery sauce and noodles, with a few chunks of meat here and there. He said it tasted very plain. The garlic bread comes wrapped in aluminum foil and was soggy. Overall I personally rate this place 3/10. My friends said 0/10. The owner being nice and the antique atmosphere is just not enough to justify subpar food. My deep dish was the best item we got but, for me, I would never drive 30 minutes (we live in hickory) for the pizza again.

If you're looking for a great Chicago style pizza with a unique and vintage environment then look no further than Piccolo's. It took some time to get the food but the wait was well worth it. We watched it as they spun the dough for the pizza right in front of us. The spaghetti was absolutely delicious, the pizza was so fresh with the best ingredients. Throughout the restaurant there was all types of memorabilia from times past from Coke Pepsi gas stations and the like. It was such a fun place to walk around and take the trip down memory lane at the treasures from the past. We were able to speak to the owner who told us "everything is for sale". Don't dare order blue cheese dressing with your salad or you'll quickly be reminded of what style restaurant you are in. The owner came out and had a lovely conversation with us getting to know us. I'm a collector of coke machines and he was trying to buy mine which I got a kick out of. We each had something the other wanted as far as memorabilia goes. He was just a lot of fun and made our experience even better as we felt like VIPs. I cannot say enough about how delicious the food was and how huge the pizza turned out to be. We took enough home for two more meals. This is a definite do over every time we coming to town, this will be on the top of our "must dine at"list

I have never been more disgusted while eating at a restaurant. I even waited a full 24 hours to write this review to make sure that I wasn't over exaggerating in my head. But no, they are still gross on so many levels. Where to start?

Let's start with the decor. I am all for what they are trying to go for. I also understand that they are in the middle of poor old Lenoir, but that is no excuse to have the rattiest booths ever. There is a defined line separating rugged chic and I'm to cheap to fix the upholstery on the booths so I'll pretend like it goes with the rest of the dining room. Then the table cloths. What is up with the cheap picinic covers? They're not even fixed to the table. It makes it impossible to eat there with little children. They can easily pull the cloth off with everything on the table. Mine is

I asked a coworker where the best pizza was in town and she told me Piccolos. So I decided to go try this place out. And I love pizza. I've always tried every pizza i could as an adult. There has been three places that have super impressed me. 1. The deaf pizza place in San Francisco. 2. Piccolos. 3. Flat earth pizza in carson city nevada. Walking in I was greeted with a super friendly face. This nice italian man who I assume is the owner. He was actually training at new person. He was actually telling him that some people who have never been here walk in the front door and dont know to walk in the left area to order. And here I come brand new but with that friendly italian smile he welcomed me and was asking me where I'm from and I told him that I was talking to a coworker and was told to come here due to them having the best pizza in town and he smiled and was like of course we are. Well I ordered a meat lover's type pizza and bought was I impressed when it came out. First off it looked gorgeous. And it was cut into squares which made me smile. From my first bite to my last I was so impressed. It tasted fresh. It wasnt greesey at all. And man I couldnt wait to write this review. the waiting staff was so friendly as well. Always checking on me to make sure I was taken care of. I will definalty be back and I cant wait to try the other...
