I was definitely impressed with this chain that's new to Mass - both with the food and the staff. I have been an off and on loyal customer of the other taco chain for many years and wanted to try this out as a quick comparison since I was passing through the area.
I only tried a basic beef taco and some of the potato ole's as I wasn't really that hungry but also just to get a sense of how the food is overall as its usually the basic items that are overlooked - plus I'd heard a lot about the potato ole's and wanted to try them.
Overall the food was excellent. The taco had a lot of fresh lettuce and the taco sauce the meat came in wasn't too greasy which can sometimes be an issue with the other chain - very tasty. The potato ole's were also very good. Very crispy and fresh. There's some sort of taco seasoning they put on them when they come right out of the fryer that gives them a slight tex-mex flavor that was really nice and not too overpowering.
I took off one star on the food due to the fact that the taco wrapper is just a flat piece of wax paper wrapped around the taco which made it a little hard to eat while driving compared to the other chain. Not only did I almost lose the entire taco in the bag due to the paper starting to unroll when I grabbed it but also when I was eating it, I got lettuce all over the place. Not sure if the way the other chain wraps their tacos is proprietary or something but they might want to look into that.
As for the staff at this location... I'm not sure if they were all part of the ownership group or something but the cashier was very enthusiastic about the brand and all the unique food offerings. He seemed genuinely disappointed I didn't try one of the big signature burritos and I kinda felt bad. Also, I really just don't like "nacho cheese" and when I declined the sauce with the potatoes he seemed defeated. I think he thought I was just being budget conscious and ended up giving me a larger potato ole size than I ordered to be nice.
Overall great experience and...
Read moreIt started as a simple craving—just a late afternoon detour on a summer day—but what we found at Taco John’s in Leominster was something unexpectedly sweet, warm, and unforgettable.
From the moment we stepped inside, we noticed the difference. The space was spotless, bright, and inviting—one of those places that feels like it’s smiling back at you. The air smelled of freshly fried tortillas, grilled steak, and warm spices. Behind the counter, a cheerful team greeted us like old friends, offering patient guidance and genuine grins that made us feel totally at home.
We ordered the Four Cheese Steak Quesadilla Combo, which felt like biting into a melted dream—rich, cheesy, and perfectly crisped on the outside with juicy steak folded into every corner. The chipotle lime fried chicken tacos were bold and tangy, packed with crunch and flavor, and had just the right zip to make you take an extra bite even after you’re full.
Of course, no Taco John’s visit is complete without the iconic Potato Olés—golden, seasoned just right, and served hot like they knew we’d been waiting for them all day. We both got a helping and didn’t leave a single one behind.
And then—like fate—Camden got to spin the prize wheel. The wheel clicked dramatically before landing on a free fried chicken taco, which honestly felt like destiny rewarding us for our good taste. It was a little moment of joy that made everything feel a little more magical.
Sometimes fast food is just fast food—but sometimes, it’s a perfect little memory dressed in golden potatoes, warm tortillas, and friendly smiles. Taco John’s in Leominster gave us more than a meal. It gave us a story. And we’ll definitely be back for...

Let’s first talk about the burritos - we had two burritos that my dining companion now swears are the best in the world. These weren’t just burritos; they were hearty, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely bursting with bold Mexican-inspired flavors. The fillings were generous, the tortilla soft and warm, and every bite packed a punch of savory satisfaction.
But the magic didn’t stop there. The tater oles — crispy, golden, and piping hot — were next-level delicious. Dipped in the creamy, rich cheese sauce, they became addictive little bites of heaven. These aren’t your average sides; they’re a must-have indulgence.
And let’s not forget the hard tacos with steak — a great flavor balance that worked incredibly well. The robust flavor notes paired with the tender, juicy steak created a savory combo that was nothing short of culinary yuminess.
The staff were super friendly, the service was quick, and the atmosphere had that perfect balance of laid-back comfort and clean, welcoming energy.
